Happy New Year to everyone.  Hope this year all your hopes and dreams come true.   May all of your problems, be minor and easy to solve.

This years focus is to save more by only buying what I need and not want . 

Plans this year - nothing planned as yet.

Problems in life - hopefully the council will pay this January's  care home fees , instead of starting in February as mom has gone below the threshold, but we shall see .


Weather today is wet and I have no plans to any where.

You might check if the council pays weekly or monthly - our council seemed to need to know which day/week MiL might dip down too low so they could adjust asap.  Likely also that they could adjust back up on her next pension payment putting her above the cutoff.

I love the wish to us for problems be minor and easy to solve! 

This is the year I hope to get my pensions finally sorted and my off shore money.  The off shore money is very recent (inheritance) but the pensions I've been looking at for 5 years.  Of course the inheritance potentially makes sorting the pensions less urgent again....

@Brie The council were supposed to be able to work out when my mother would drop below the threshold.      In reality I have had to keep sending proof in to prove she has fallen below.  I did this in plenty of time for January 2025 payment, sent special delivery 25th November, PO delivered on 26th , only to find out just before Christmas that the paperwork is still not been processed.    I am not paying January payment (due yesterday until I hear back from them) .

I am going to do some voluntary work today.  Have not done this for over a year due to  recovering from hip op last year and life placing other challenges in my way.      I am really looking forward to it as it is a good bank

the wheels seem to grind extra slow at the council, no matter which one it is.

I'm assuming you mean food bank?  Ours is very quiet this week - quite a few holiday hunger vouchers issued by the schools so getting those families that don't normally need assistance until the kids need lunches normally free at school.  We actually only had 1 person in other than that today.  Homeless but very jolly and really thankful for some really excellent new wooly gloves along with a lot of Christmas goodies.   Being quiet meant we had time to give the place a proper tidy after the pre Christmas busyness.

Morning Everyone 

I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at the food bank . It was quiet. But enough people came .

I am meeting up with a friend today for lunch and a catch up.

I must go and put in 1p challenge amounts for today.

Hello All.

Well January finally came to an end.

January brought a visit to the dentist at the start of January as my face swoll up at the end of December.  Just a good clean required. Face ok now.

I still have the ongoing issue with mom funding. Not paid the home for January's money, as the council are still asking for more paperwork, goodness knows what they do with it .  I have answered an saying I will upload , photograph evidence, to see if they miscalculated her savings.   From this month the council will start helping to pay mom's fees. 

Then on the 24th mom went into hospital as an emergency,as she was struggling to breathe.  So had the Friday off. Mom had puemonia, but is now back home in the nursing home . As I am an only child, I went to see mom every day. 

On my Fitbit I slept like a giraffe, last month I slept like a bear.

Had a restful weekend this weekend.

@I_Love_comps - I know how it is going in and out of nursing homes and hospitals to be with someone. My roommate has been in the ER 4 times this month - in a nursing home for two weeks. When my mom was in the nursing home, she insisted I come every day - or she gave them trouble. They were happy for me to take her home (under hospice care). But it is so time consuming - and tiring as well as frustrating as you don't feel that you are getting anything done. Take it easy on yourself. You don't want to wear yourself out mentally or physically.

Hello Everyone.

Where have those months gone. Had a stressful beginning to the year. But hopefully things are settling down. 
My mom went into hospital with pneumonia in January, then was discharged and was back in within a week.  No more hospital visits and her and her medication has been changed.
I had a stressful January and February sorting out the payments for the nursing home funding , it only took a very stressful 6 months to sort out .  But glad to see the council now pay a contribution and my mother is paying a lot less than when she was a self funder.

I am on my Easter Break from work. I hope to catch up on household chores and relax .
These include cleaning, card making, gardening if dry weather is still with us . 

I am back tracking my weight on the WW app and am maintaining my weight loss.

Morning 

Yesterday I managed to clean the kitchen sink. Unpack some clothes for the warmer weather.   
Some went for selling on vinted and some will go to a CS .
Did some admin tasks. 
Watched a film on Amazon prime.

Today 
Even though I am on holiday. Work have enrolled us on a course and the only time we could do it is during the holidays.
Not much will be achieved today.

Weather forecast is for some rain.
Tracked food on wwapp.

Morning Everyone 
Got the course completed at work. Got home just after 3pm 

Cooked dinner. Then watched EastEnders and Corrie.

This morning I was hoping for a lie in , but my gorgeous cat decided to keep attacking my feet .  Brought a cuppa back to bed and hopefully get another kip before I get up .

Out mini Summer has vanished. Back to dark dull days.

Today I must change the bed linen and wash the kitchen floor.
