My pension comes in 4 weekly but even so January always feels like it has been 62 days not 31. Perhaps we should do a petition to make January 28 days & February 31. I must say it does seem to have been a particularly dreary month. There have been a lot of days when I almost closed the curtains at 1.

I read somewhere the other day that we've now got through the 10 darkest weeks of the season (5 weeks either side of the winter solstice) 😊 I thought that was a nice way of putting it, and of feeling like we were starting to emerge into a bit more light!
(Having said that, I've just driven home and the weather out there is utterly filthy 😂)8 -
January does seem to have felt particularly long this year!
Those small jobs do make things more pleasant without an awful lot of effort.

Having just read the last few comments I have adjusted my posture, exercised my pelvic floor and given thanks that we are through the darkest 10 weeks of the season. Thank you for all contributing to my well-being 😊Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Hands up who else is now sitting beautifully upright clenching certain muscles that all too often they don't pay as much attention to as they should?!
BM - wash your mouth out, I'm not giving up our lovely short February for anyone! Now if you want to campaign to make January a 28 day month as well, then great, I'm in!
Thanks for dropping by all - and welcome to February! We have lovely bright sunshine here to start the month, but I suspect that is going to be replaced with heavy grey cloud again tomorrow. Sigh.
In lovely news, MrEH and I became Great Uncle and Auntie overnight as our (technically step) niece had a little girl over in Australia. Mum and baby doing well and we are delighting in making MrEH's brother and his wife feel ancient by calling them grannie and grandad, of course!
MSE Stuff:
- £100 OP sent to the mortgage this morning - which is a nice way to start the month!
- Ended January on just over £20 from Prolific, so will get that cashed out a little later. More effort needed for February I think!
- TCB cashout hasn't landed yet so I'll keep an eye for that. It will go to the OP pot when it lands
- first batch of start of month DDs have gone - that stripped a big old lump of money out of the joint account all in one go!
- £50 transferred to my N'w1de S2S this morning. That one is never going to win any prizes but it is a nice way of setting aside just a small amount of personal savings extra each month.
- Remembered to get the chicken sausages out of the freezer last night to defrost ready for tea this evening. I'm currently leaning towards doing jacket potatoes with those and then will use up some of the sprouts shredded and lightly stir-fried I think.
- Got the phone call to discuss the solar/battery thing later Goodness knows when we can get the survey booked for but it might have to be a day when MrEH is in and I'm not, the way things are looking.
- Debating about signing up for the "Snip" thing from FPL - it's £3 a month, but it could be worth it for the savings...need to thoroughly look into it and maybe give the free trial a go.
- Probably won't now do the takeaway thing tomorrow evening as I'm now going to be in and can cook. Might throw together some form of curry plate I think - a batch cook of daal might be a nice thing as well, need to decide which one if I go with that.
Other stuff:
- Yoga done last night - it's so much more practical now with us having the second living space as I don't feel as though MrEH is being forced to go and sit in the bedroom (he finds Adriene's voice and phrasing super-annoying, so it's his choice not to stay in the room, I should add!) which means I'm far more inclined to just crack on and do it, I've realised.
- walking and general exercise levels are up on last week and I have already blasted through my 150 active minutes for the week according to my Garmin.
February plans include trying to just keep up with small habit changes/rebuilding of habits. So initially -
- posture
- movement
- yoga
- quick tidy round each evening before bed.
