Your change of address card has just arrived 🤣. I've finally worked out that you've moved from DFW to MFW! Will now catchup on your new diary.
belated congratulations on moving. Sounds like you are going to be very happy there!5 -
Great progress! I had one of those mini-greenhouses at my old house, as there was no room there for a proper glass one. I still started tender veg seeds off indoors (tomatoes, peppers, etc) but found it really useful for veg babies once I'd potted up the seedlings. Surprising how much food can be grown in a small space.

Haha BC I actually edited my old diary thread title to say I'd done it!
Morning all - as always thanks to those who have popped by!
Astonished to get home last night to find our green-waste bin had arrived! Amazing how much more efficient and helpful the council are when you are in a house rather than a flat... *rolls eyes* - first job was getting that round to the garden and getting the bags emptied in to it - one of the bags was only fit for rubbish as some twigs had punched holes through it but the other two were fine for re-use. Hopefully the permit sticker for it will arrive in the next few days, then all I need to do is remember when it needs to go back round for collection!
Also managed to get one of the bookcases out of the shed, cleaned up and upstairs to take at least a few more of our books...still more to find homes for though! Got I think 3 boxes emptied in the end anyway - one full one and two that had previously been partly emptied and left due to lack of shelf space being ready. I think a job for the weekend is a proper measure up so we can establish exactly what we need/want in the way of bookshelves now. I suspect more IKEA Billys are beckoning though! Two large boxes stuffed with newspaper used for packing removed to outside next to the recycling bin with a pleading message left for the bin men today. Not entirely sure they will take them but we can only try. If not then one box-worth will have to go into the emptied bin, and the other will hopefully go into Mum's next weekend.
I've got a box of bedding to get emptied this evening - but I already know where most of that will be going I think. I might have a go at getting curtains up in bedroom 3 as well - the rail is in place - with tab-top voiles on it at the moment - and we bought the rings, so I should be able to, and it will be another job done and I'll create some cupboard space where the curtains are at the moment.
MSE Stuff:
- Ran through budget stuff with MrEH yesterday evening to make sure that we were on the same page. we agreed a few tweaks, including gradually increasing the payment to the Octopods by £10 a month as we head into the cooler weather to reduce the shock of suddenly finding ourselves a chunk down when it needs to increase otherwise.
- Also agreed that I am going to nudge the monthly contribution to the household pot up by £20 - this will take account of next year's green waste subscription when that is due, and also other odds and ends that we expect to increase in price with the new house.
- We have also agreed to hold off paying anything more to the mortgage until a little later in the month while we see how things settle.
- Banks checked and OK
- CC has now processed through all the payments and HURRAH there are currently no pending transactions on it either, so I have just transferred the balance over from my personal savings pot now to get it to zero.
- £13 spent on 2 more pairs of leggings last night, plus just over £4 on lady-goods in T's. Leggings are from my clothing pot, and the other bits from personal spends.
- £50 top up for MrEH's Oyster yesterday - and I've asked him to keep the fuel in his car to a max of £60 tonight - that allows the same again for mine (which annoyingly I may have to do on the way home this evening as well - we'll see how it looks) without going over the budget I've set for us.
- Also annoyingly the Prime subscription renews this month! I'd taken my eye off the ball with that, and usually it would just come straight from the household fund but that's completely empty at the moment, unsurprisingly! It can come out of the joint account, but will just leave us with a bit less to send to the mortgage.
Food is under control - I left the chicken last night in the end as I decided I might just as well strip it down while I was sorting out what we wanted for tea tonight. Spicy ragu with pasta last night, and this evening will be couscous for him and probably brown rice for me, with chicken and roasted veggies, topped off with toasted seeds (As I now have a small frying pan that will work on the induction hob!)
Remembered that I still have 2 small sweet potatoes to use at some stage so Friday night's tea may well end up being keema & sweet potato curry.
The drop in temperature has meant a second decent night's sleep on the trot for both of us which is wonderful - especially surprising for me as it's TOTM and usually that means entirely rubbish sleep. I'm managing things slightly differently with my medication this month though and so far that seems to be working for me. Fingers crossed it continues!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Sounds like you’re getting settled in very quickly. I took my eye off the ball with the Prime renewal this year too. Have now factored in a monthly amount to save so it doesn’t happen again. It’s easily done especially when you’ve got a lot going on elsewhere.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
