Change of address fees for insurance can be to do with changed risk when you change location. I got a refund when I moved..8

I don't think they have a taproom unfortunately - I wish they did! The Belgian Brewer at Bishops Stortford has a taproom though and he brews some lovely beers - all in the Belgian style as you might expect. It's very accessible too - just a short walk from a bus stop.PennysIntoPounds said:New River Brewery beers look great, do you know if you can go there to drink or is it orders only? The website wasn't clear
In fairness to AXA they don't make an admin charge for change of address if you do it on their website (which we both did) - but because it's car insurance there can be a change to the premium itself due to the new address/postcode - and even our own change of status (owning a house rather than a flat, having a mortgage again) might make a difference to that side of things. As we've both undergone the same changes though it did seem a little odd that his came up so much more than mine - even though our cars are quite different!
Joedenise our council won't collect (allegedly) if the lids won't close either - and if you mix up recycling and general waste you get a "note of shame" tied to the bin for all your neighbours to see!
Forgot to mention earlier - I decided to test out how good the lighting was in the living room for crochet - did one granny square to get my head back into it, and have now cracked in to a dishcloth as some of mine are looking a bit tired. I'll be aiming to get a few more rows of that done tonight although doing too much in one go makes my hand hurt when I'm working with the heavy cotton yarn.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Mmmmm…….as for crochet in poor light…..I crocheted and sewed a square edged in blue to my blanket last night. This morning I realised it wasn’t the same blue as the edges of the rest of the squares so had to undo it this afternoon 😏

It does sound odd about the difference in charge for change of address. I like the discrimination card - hope it goes in his favour.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks all on the insurance side of things - Our hope is that in fact AXA decide that the path of least resistance is to just change the address and waive any charges whatsoever for him - although I will need to get him to confirm at some stage (he can probably do it online) that they have actually registered the change of address on the policy. we'll see - but there certainly doesn't appear to be any logic to it, and they've looked at my policy alongside now so at least I'm vaguely reassured that I've not done anything wildly silly to make mine unrealistic!
Milann how frustrating about your wrong shade of blue! I'm always reluctant to work with "similar colours" unless the light is really quite good - I do have the little USB lamp that I can use if needed mind - well, I can once it's charged!
MSE Stuff:
- Banks checked and all good
- The CC is still sitting at a lovely reassuring zero!
- The payment we made for the contents insurance for the flat has been returned as of course that policy was cancelled within the 14 day cooling off period. Just £7.52, but that £7.52 is now residing in the Mortgage OP pot!
- we've come to a conclusion that in the first instance we want to make sure we OP at least £100 a month. That should be relatively easy achieved via the "spare" £60 from my pay that has always been squirrelled away, the £30 that we're "saving" on the council tax through until the end of the financial year, and then just finding an extra £10 worth of savings from "somewhere".
No NSD yesterday as MrEH's car's fuel warning sounded as we were part way up the motorway and with us both having diesels we have always been of a mind that we refill ASAP as soon as that happens. £63 to fill his to the brim though which wasn't too bad. I have a hunch that my car may do the same to me this evening thus blowing today's NSD aspirations too - we'll see...maybe if I talk VERY nicely to her al the way back up the motorway?!
- Meals swizzled around a little bit - I really fancy the idea of doing curry for tomorrow evening, so I've subbed in sausages for tonight - they'll need to be done in the oven as we don't currently have a frying pan of the right size that will work on our hob! I'll shove tatties to bake alongside them anyway, and probably do baked beans with them as I've got a Lil's tin I want to taste test to see if they're alright - the tin suggests they *may* be low sugar ones which are usually foul so we'll see!
- Tomorrow's curry will be Keema, sweet potato and butternut squash (this using up the last of the squash & two small sweet potatoes)
- Just had a call from the Council to confirm the return of the overpaid amount on the garage rent - bank details given (after a suitable number of "security questions" - asked by me I hasten to add!) and that should be back with us in a week to 10 days.
Progress on last night's planned jobs:
- Curtains in bedroom 3 DONE
- measure shelves needed for Bed 3 wardrobes - and work out what configuration I want for the one that will be holding my camera kit. Part done - I decided on the configuration but still need to do the actual measurements - it'll be two more shelves needed for the smaller wardrobe anyway.
- Get MrEH to take the large box in the front room that has jigsaws and games in it upstairs. DONE - and we got an additional box unpacked too.
- Start to shuffle furniture in the spare room so we can work out where things need to go, and how much room we will have available for bookshelves - DONE
- Measure for bookshelves. - Also done, and annoyingly I think we are going to have to build our own configuration there rather than relying on a "standard" Swedish Store build...
A consideration we need to take into account when pricing up the planned bookcases is whether to get them in white - which works out an awful lot cheaper, or a colour of finish that we might usually prefer... I'm also debating about suggesting to MrEH that we switch things about and actually put the "big" bookcases we are planning on getting into bedroom 3 in which case white would work rather well as it will match the wardrobes and big chest of drawers already in there. That would then free up 3 smaller bookcases to shift into the spare room, office or wherever... having established that the Swedish people will deliver starting from £40 I'm also firmly of a mind to go for that - saves navigating the store, saves the stress of trying to get quite large, heavy flatpacks into MrEH's car, and generally will be well worth the cost all round I think! Our nearest store with click & collect options is also now quite some distance away and in fact on the wrong side of the Thames, so even the cost and time aspect of getting there and back is substantial. Planning for all that I think will be this evening's main task.

Just had an email back from the Graze Box customer service people - I dropped them some feedback that my last box was a little marmite-heavy with three out of my four snacks being flavoured with the divisive brown stuff...I mean I am a Marmite lover, but still! Lovely reply from a nice lady who apologised for the lack of variety with their usual good humour, and is also crediting me with a half-priced box for my next one, which will be very welcome!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Well done on all your ongoing work.
I'd say get the shelves you prefer if you can afford them, otherwise every time you look at them for the next few years you'll think 'hmm' then change them eventually so it's a false economy buying ones you like less
Stir a heaped tablespoon of tomato puree in with the beans as you're heating them, makes them more delicious (especially if they're watery/sweet own brand) and you get a bonus portion of fruit and veg with no effort!7 -
That tomato puree tip is a good one! With a pretty standard own brand variant I usually go with a heaped teaspoon of smoked paprika and a good grinding of black pepper - that adds a lovely smokiness and depth of flavour and works especially for beans to top off a jacket tattie with a generous handful of cheese too.
The shelves is an odd one - if they are going into Bed 3 - which might work better for us - then white will be the way to go as it will match the main other items of furniture in there. If in the spare room it's less clear cut - but ultimately I'm still not sure the colour will matter massively as nothing furniture-wise in there matches anyway! If they were going in a frequently used room then I'd 100% agree that we shouldn't compromise at all though - and indeed, we won't be!
So - I've just eaten a frog. For ages I've been backing off from logging in to the main online banking for my FD account - because I couldn't totally recall the details I'd used when I set it up in terms of username...and of course it had turned into A Big Thing - as these things do, as I became convinced if I c0ck3d it up it would end up with me locked out of the app as well. Now I need to go in to check that they definitely haven't set up the mortgage payment from my FD account - which I know we agreed they wouldn't, but you know, belt & braces and all that. So I took a breath, pulled those metaphorical big-girl pants up and went for it. Username I guessed based on what felt likely I'd have used - and it was. Security code generation was easy enough, and the security question was a doddle. All peachy, and that frog can consider itself well and truly slain!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
