Are the JM burgers the ones with kidney beans, oats and carrots? 🤔3
-
Yep - although mine have parsnips instead of carrots as MrEH is a carrot-dodger! 😁 I’d forgotten that they actually develop more flavour after freezing too - they were delish!edinburgher said:Are the JM burgers the ones with kidney beans, oats and carrots? 🤔🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

You absolutely can - I do mine on a sheet of baking parchment, open frozen on a tray then transfer to plastic boxes to avoid them getting too battered. Works like a charm! Defrost before cooking but they seem to hold together in the pan better once they’ve been frozen, too.edinburgher said:I didn't realise you could freeze them, project for next week 👍🏻🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Dearest @EssexHebridean I hope your recovery continues apace. Mrs Boss beggars belief! Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx4

Oh, I always cook my hm veggie burgers/sausages directly from frozen EH - I find it helps them to hold together better (they survive the first flip in the pan). I've never 'not' cooked them from frozen 🤔 I appreciate it may add a smidge to cooking time, to ensure they are heated through, but nothing excessive. But I've never bothered with defrosting them. Although I absolutely agree that open freezing is the key - even with greaseproof circles in between, they are impossible to prize apart if stacked before freezing..... ask me how I know this 🤔🤣EssexHebridean said:

I hope you are continuing on with your recovery, and I second, 3rd, 4th, 97th.... the 'boo' to Madame Boss's poor attitude to staff illness; not what people need to face when feeling ill anyway.

Glad you're feeling a bit better, though take care to not push yourself too much, viruses do need time to recover from once the initial illness is dealt with as your body has been doing loads of tiring work behind the scenes!
As you know lemsip is just paracetamol and decongestant so take a couple of tablets and stick yer head over a sink filled with kettle-boiling water 👍😁

I literally defaulted to taking the equivalent stuff to the lemsip in different forms in the end PiP - certainly wasn't putting myself through drinking that filth again!
Definitely still struggling with the lurgy aftermath - viruses are indeed the very devil for leaving you feeling like a wrung out dishrag for a while after aren't they. Oh well - getting there slowly, in fact "slowly" is my default pace at the moment. I DID take the chance on Monday to give the kitchen a bit of a clean and tidy though, and the currently lovely clear island and worktops are sparking joy each time I see them.
MSE Stuff:
- Pr1nc1pal1ty Xmas 2025 saver is coming to an end and I have given instructions for a new 6 month one to open up with some of the funds from that - the balance will slide across into my existing account there that will then fund that saver and the other 6 month one that I'm half way through. That's a cracking rate at over 7% on £200 a month so worth having.
- New Xmas 2026 saver has now been launched so I have opened one of those, funded it AND set up the regular monthly transfer from the joint account again - which was where the old one was funded from.
- Grocery spending this month is looking reasonable - I mean we're not talking "low spend" as it used to be back in the day, but it's definitely less than I have any right to be spending on keeping the two of us fed for a month, so I'll take that.
- We'll probably shop in M's this week as one will be convenient to where we will be. Aim is going to be to continue to keep the spend relatively low though I will double check for any useful offers.
- We have plans for the weekend but personal spends will take care of that - one plus of being poorly last week and having to cancel plans is that at least that is looking slightly more healthy!
- I've snared a freebie hot drink via the Octopods app as that may come in useful either tomorrow or Sunday
- I've had to add a meal for this evening in to the plan - we were originally scheduled to not be at home but plans have changed. Easy enough though as we have ingredients for a stir fry, and that will help with using up some last odd bits of veg, too.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
