Thanks to SA for the inadvertent reminder about the start of month transfers to my Pr1nc1pal1ty R/Ss - the Christmas one is automatic via standing order but the two 6 months ones I do manually as it's an internal transfer. Done now anyway, AND I've reminded MrEH about the one he has to do manually as well.
I need to decide what to use the two C@h00t accounts with decent interest rates for - they may as well be used for money that will be earning interest anyway, so we'll probably move a chunk of the holiday pot into one, and I might use the other for one of my personal pots - I'll have a think.
Food still under control - couscous last night with a combination of sliced up leftover sausages and some rather tasty feta style cheese I bought when we were in Devon the other weekend. Tonight will be ragu & pasta, and tomorrow I have earmarked for jacket potatoes with something or another - quite honestly that may well just end up being baked beans with some smoked paprika and chopped up chorizo thrown in, plus some grated cheese.
We plan to make a batch of lemon curd this evening as we bought some yellow stickered pink lemons a couple of weeks back - I'm desperately hoping they will make a pretty pale pink curd - we'll see!
I did prep and roast all the currently ripe tomatoes last night too - with several chunky cloves of garlic and plenty of salt & pepper those have cooked down to sauce consistency ready for use with pasta again at some stage - we have a few tubs of that sort of sauce in the freezer now.
The octopods have finally got around to adding the monthly DD onto the account - and we're £10 up on last month's balance which feels quite positive for the beginning of November - pretty sure we'd already gone into the realms of using more than the DD amount by October last year.
Oh - and I've had an idea for my day of wandering in London on Friday - and that is that rather than using the tube to head in, I'll get the bus instead. Turns out there is a bus that runs from pretty much where I will be starting out, to pretty much where my first stop will be (Bethnal Green) and I already know there are options to get from there into the Liverpool Street area, although I may just walk at that point...possibly via the Brick Lane Beigel Bake to acquire food for the evening, now I come to think of it! For the afternoon I'm currently musing on a visit to the Science Museum - not been there in absolutely years! I'm inclined to save that Tate Modern thing for an occasion when MrEH is with me.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I had a very random survey on pro lif ic yesterday asking for my views on jacket potatoes with cheese and beans eg what order I prefer the beans and cheese and with or without butter. No option for added paprika or chorizo though. Oh well it added 40p to the earnings this month 🥳5

Feta is the very devil isn't it L - take your eyes off the stuff for a moment and it grows pink fur!
Ah, but what were your replies BC? I'd say definitely butter, and I always go with cheese on first so that the beans melt it - MrEH insists that's perverse though.
I'm currently undecided where to go with Prolific - they want to "verify my identity" but are making no efforts to tell me how they intend to use, store or safeguard any ID document I send them. I'm currently leaning towards sacking them off - but won't burn my bridges quite yet until I see whether this is going to be a short lived demand while they come to the conclusion that it's going to be a GDPR nightmare.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Same as you EH - butter first, then cheese, then a very small amount of beans which need to not encroach onto the plate or get cold whilst I'm eating them. I'm still damaged by a primary school lunch of lukewarm baked beans with chunks of spam in and a scoop of mashed potato with those little black bits in. 🤢5

Ooh school dinner trauma! Mind is rice pudding with skin, with a tinned peach half and syrup sitting on the top of it - which actually made me throw up at the very sight of it. Prolific use Onfido to verify identity - they only get passed your verified name, country and date of birth. I queried it the other day and this is the response I received:
At Prolific, we’re always improving our data quality processes. This includes recent updates to how we verify participant identities. Identity verification is ever-evolving. New identity fraud attacks are always emerging, and new improvements are made to the systems that catch them. That’s why we put some historically accepted identification methods under review.
We’re now asking all participants to verify their account with an unexpired ID document. This helps us maintain the high quality and trustworthiness of our platform.
If you joined Prolific before we introduced ID verification, you may now be asked to complete this step — this is nothing to worry about!
The ID verification process helps ensure that:
- Each participant is a real person with a unique account
- Researchers receive reliable, high-quality data for their studies
- All participants have fair and continued access to studies
For your security, please note that we’ll never ask you to verify your ID via Prolific messages or through researcher accounts.
I'm afraid we do need you to complete ID verification before you can take studies on Prolific, and there is no way to bypass this. All you will need is a valid, government-issued ID document which has been issued by your country of residence in order to pass the check. You can find the exact list of which ID documents we accept in our Help Center guidance: Which IDs are accepted?
We get that it can feel strange to send a selfie and a picture of your ID, but these are only used to automatically check your identity - nothing else.
Our verification partner, Onfido, only securely shares the following details with us:
- Your first name and surname
- Your date of birth
- The country of origin for your ID
You can find more information in these resources:
I’d recommend checking out our Help Center guidance: Verifying your identity FAQ.
Thank you for your understanding and for working with us to maintain Prolific's high data quality standards.
I wasn't happy about it, but the Coop used Onfido to verify my ID for a bank account application, so I figured they're probably legit enough. I wouldn't blame you if you don't do it, but I suspect they won't back down. And I've not verified my ID with LinkedIn (who have locked me out of my own account) because I've not heard of the ID verification co. they use (Persona). I really don't think it's right that all these places are expecting us to share ID with them.

Thank Vix - I was hoping someone might have some intel, so that's really useful. I have no issue with providing ID to organisations that legally require it - that's a necessity of life these days, but like you, I do have a bit of an issue with random organisations demanding that we provide copies of high-level ID documents just to "improve their processes" - that does feel off. As you say, at least they are using a trustworthy entity to deal with the verification.
I'll probably just go ahead and delete my LinkedIn account now - I don't use it anyway, so might as well. Bit different for someone in your position though isn't it!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
