Whenever I have to do security selfies, I try to make sure my hand that isn't holding the phone is just out of shot with the middle finger up. It helps soothe my feelings that every rando company in the world now seems to have a right to your personal documents!
I do appreciate that this is vulgar and immature, and I don't care 😁9 -
@Blackcats - my baked potato eating knowledge was only worth 13p! 😱1

Totally agree - it’s really not right as we have no way of knowing how secure their systems are. But I suspect it’s the world we now live in as there are so many shysters out there in the digital world.EssexHebridean said:Thank Vix - I was hoping someone might have some intel, so that's really useful. I have no issue with providing ID to organisations that legally require it - that's a necessity of life these days, but like you, I do have a bit of an issue with random organisations demanding that we provide copies of high-level ID documents just to "improve their processes" - that does feel off. As you say, at least they are using a trustworthy entity to deal with the verification.
I'll probably just go ahead and delete my LinkedIn account now - I don't use it anyway, so might as well. Bit different for someone in your position though isn't it!
You’re spot on with the LI issue - I don’t really a choice, and what’s more I use it extensively for my Cambridge work too (which I’ve just about got around, but there’ll be a limit to how much far I can take that).
ETA, because I thought you might appreciate it (although I’m not sure where you stand on sours), I’m currently enjoying a very tasty Vault City - chocolate-dipped strawberries! I don’t know how they get their flavours so spot on, but they do. Oo yes you are right it was only 13p - I transposed earnings from high level jacket spud research with an intellectual study of my preferred design of emoji faces for which I earned 50 cents 🥳edinburgher said:@Blackcats - my baked potato eating knowledge was only worth 13p! 😱4 -
I also did that one 🤣2

Well you’ve just answered the question I asked on my diary as I’ve been asked to verify my ID on PA. At work one of the platforms I use has started asking for extra verification involving sending a code to your personal mobile. Sign of the times I guess.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

I went ahead with the PA enhanced ID thing. I think they may have been looking at their security all round as the recent email received implies that wrong 'uns have been citing PA in order to obtain personal details. I declined a survey a couple of weeks ago because I felt it was asking for too much personal info & I cancelled & reported it. Probably not dodgy but I felt it went rather against their frequent reminders that they don't request personal details.
I suspect online fraud & hacking has reached such astronomical levels that many other organisations will be adopting similar enhanced ID systems. Nevertheless, I was quite surprised when I saw that PA were doing it.

I'm a recent sours convert - but only in the context of the fruited sours that are about at the moment a lot, definitely not when it comes to the various foreign styles that are sour because they are essentially infected (wild yeast etc). My brain can't get past years of being on full alert as soon as sourness is detected in a "normal" beer! I had Vault City's Strawberry Fields recently - very good indeed, and I'm rather pleased I had another one in the fridge! Sours are a pain if you are looking after them in the cellar as they pretty much need a full line clean before you can change to a different beer, whereas with most styles you can get away with pulling water through, leaving to soak, and then pulling out and connecting up. A faff when you are in an environment like a beer festival where you don't want to be messing around with nasty stuff like line cleaner mid week!themadvix said:

I think I am resigned to doing the prolific ID think - as annoying as it is to have to do it, it can be a lucrative thing to have on the go to top up various funds.
Ex neighbour messaged last night to see if we could use a bag of filled pasta - they got it as part of a meal-box but it contains dairy and she is very allergic. When MrEH popped round to get it this morning there was also random other spices and flavouring type things in the bag so I will be investigating those later, and we will be having pasta for the second night on the trot tonight, It's ricotta and spinach I think, so I'm currently thinking pesto, and either a couple of rashers of finely chopped bacon of some chorizo...hopefully there are still some frozen mushrooms in the freezer as well.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Some of Vault City's stuff is delicious! I'm not a big fan of the sours, more into my hoppy monstrosities, imperial stouts and and Belgian beers
Have you tried their Iron Brew sour? That I will allow! 3
