Vix - the site was Crystal Lakes at Fenstanton - it’s really nicely positioned, and either Fenstanton or St Ives are extremely walkable for pubs which I know you would find useful too! I suspect it wouldn’t be our sort of site in the height of Summer, but it’s certainly one we’ll add to our list for the quieter times of year.
Well annoyingly I seem to have succumbed to what is either a particularly grotty cold, or I suspect more likely the latest strain of covid. Woke up yesterday with a spectacularly sore throat, and started coughing alongside during the day, plus could feel that my heart rate kept spiking for no reason too…by the end of the work day my energy levels had gone through the floor, and in spite of going to bed at just past 9pm last night (very early for me) I’m still extremely low on energy this morning. The throat has settled a bit today, but I’m still coughing a lot, and my voice is going too. Messaged Madam this morning to say I wouldn’t be in, and why, and got a message back saying “thanks for the message - what makes you think you have Covid?” which feels nice and accusatory from one’s boss, when unwell! Keep reminding myself that it says way more about her, than me - although I’m deeply tempted to go in regardless of how well or otherwise I am tomorrow in a bid to try to ensure she gets it too! Honestly, I really have NO time for the unhealthy determination to give people the impression that working when ill is a good thing! So far this morning I’ve moved from bed to sofa, but no further. I’ll potter about a bit later and I have some financial odds and ends to do, too - Sant-and-er have finally confirmed that the debit card payment to the ISA didn’t go through at the start of the month, so I’ll sort that out. At some stage I will need to pop to Al’s for some noodles to go with stir fry tonight - we were meant to have been going out straight from work which is obviously now scrapped, so tomorrow night’s planned meal has been brought forwards by a day. I will be ensuring that I keep good clearance on anyone else around me though, and it will be a very slow plod there and back.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Ugh .... Bad luck. Keep resting, your fluids up and don't go and breathe over your boss (however tempting it might be!
) simply because of the effort needed to get into work ...

I am on 3 weeks today & still feel like a limp rag. I didn't feel this bad back in 1988 when I had flu & bronchitis togather. My friend's comment about what did I expect I will be 80 next did not help! I am losing fitness by the day & that is NOT accceptable.5

Oh you poor thing, hope you feel better soon. Lots of sleep and no excuses!
Obviously you know your boss better than I do, but she might have just been curious as there's so much of it about at the moment- I know I'm quite nosy about covid and what symptoms people have, in a personal monitoring way and a scientific interest way. Don't let yourself be annoyed by it if there's possibility the message just came across wrong. If she's sane she wouldn't want you in the office with flu or cold either!

Oh I think it was definitely sceptical PiP - had it been accompanied with a “oh no - do you feel really rough? or some similar sympathetic uttering I would have been inclined to think along the lines your suggestion, but it wasn’t. Sadly it’s not out of character either - there is a good reason that Lovely Mr Boss always looked after the employment side of things!Anyway - a covid test this afternoon confirmed that I was “positive” with a very defined and immediately appearing line, so that puts that debate to bed, and presumably she will now be pleased that I did decide not to go in today! I did pop to the shop - at the quietest possible time and being careful to give anyone around me a super wide berth, and used a self-checkout too, so all good there. The resulting stir fry for tea was delicious too - packed with veg, and with the sauce being our home made plum sauce from last year, generally both tasty and feeling very good for us too!You will all be reassured to hear that I have indeed taken today very gently - a potter in the garden this morning, and some odd jobs through the day, before decamping into the front room mid afternoon and lighting the fire. I’ve finished one book and started another, crocheted a dishcloth, and sorted a couple of minor financial bits too. MrEH is going to make up the spare room bed for me shortly, and I don’t think I will be all that long before I take myself off and tuck into it!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
