Haha BM they can try - but they will NEVER take my “u” away from me! 😆

L - going smoothly is a nice description - and yes, it does feel as though it is for the most part. That’s got to be good, hasn’t it!

My lovely bike has not been out of the shed for so long that it's probably grown mushrooms!

Take care, EH. Last time I went out on my lovely purple bike, I was knocked off by a hit & run driver. Ended up in hospital with 5 broken ribs, some cracked ribs & a punctured lung. My bike came off worse than me & ended it's days in the skip!

Really sad to see the news breaking today about Tony Slattery's death. I knew him quite well back in the early to mid 90's - we lost touch at the point where he really went off the rails with (as I now know) drink and substance addiction leading him to a dark place mentally - I believe he very consciously stepped away from pretty much all of the group I knew him through at that stage. I still think the way he was treated by the media back when he was on mainstream TV a lot had a lot to do with his mental health struggles too - I recall him saying at the time that it frequently felt like he couldn't win whatever he did they would find holes to pick. Even in that last couple of years I knew him though, when there were extensive media reports about his "violently angry outbursts" I never saw any of that - he was always unfailingly polite, sweet and kind to me. A lovely man.
So sorry to hear that. You have some wonderful memories of him, love the Bday story. I was a fan from afar.

I have had friends really alter due to excess/addiction but as you say being in the public eye and all the criticism makes things and their MH much worse. I am still sad about The Vivienne after all the online abuse she had,  she was so talented and funny as well
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Oh jeez kayannie that’s not good at all - I hope you are now fully recovered? It does underline why I generally prefer to avoid mixing with traffic - one of the reasons I stopped using the foldy bike to commute from the car to the office was that more and more I was realising that it was only a matter of time before I got wiped out by a driver. Thankfully round here it’s possible to do most of my cycling on traffic free paths or fairly quiet roads - that is less true in the summer months when I’m more likely to go out round the lanes.

Yikes Kayannie! Glad you are recovered now

I was just thinking how I should also get my bike out. I used to cycle everywhere but haven't for a while.
