re the Octopus refund of balance, they seem to be really good at sorting that. I had £108 credit, and a DD of £50 that goes in a few days before the bill so that I'm wearing the balance down by about £20 a month, but they still refunded £58 over Christmas. In fact it was in my bank account a week before they deducted it from my Octopus account. I'll need to put the DD up a bit next month but it's given me the cash for this month. I'd expected them to say no or insist I increased the DD but they didn't contact me at all.4

Loving ‘Try January’!
Just had our Octopus statement and we are only £5 in credit… (this month’s money due to go in soon) - think we might need to top that up, even with solar and Ripple - that’s really just one car charge!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Teaselmay I've been really impressed with that side of things with octopus I have to say - I love that if you prove you can be trusted to look after the account they really do allow you that autonomy! Vix I guess that's why you've been allowed to run your credit right down too - they just seem to be willing to trust people who have proved they can be trusted - it's refreshing!
I am definitely not getting in to any more puzzles - but I did finally get Wordle in 6!
I have a small grocery spend to declare as I was tipped off to christmas goodies in Al's near work. Nipped down there and came back with three christmas puddings (2 posh, 1 basic) a jar of small chunk pickle from a well known brand, and three little tubs of baking sprinkles - winter themed. Grand total of £2.13 spent. One of the tubs of sprinkles will head to my Mum as she will enjoy a little pot of snowflakes & similar to sprinkle on her bakes! MrEH also spent 35p on a reduced pack of mince pies from the Sainsbugs near his office!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I guess you're probably right EH. We've been with them so long now that I don't really remember what it was like with other providers... and because we've got the solar/battery/car the variables are very different to other households. Both yours and Mr EH's purchases sound like absolute bargains!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Five for me on the wordle, annoying as it was between two options, but Mr PIP went from options 2-5 trying different middle letters, hate it when that happens 😁
I get dry eyes and superdrug own brand drops for dry eyes are good for only a couple of quid if you felt to try those next
Is the place you bought dishwasher tablets from somewhere you can sell too? We have some inherited we're not using... obvs mates rates for you darlin 😂

EH I am a bit baffled as to why you use Agile pricing but the biggie may be electric cooking versus gas for me and no dishwasher
Can you advise how much you spend on gas and electric and how much the savings are by changing your cooking habits/timing appliances etc under Agile
My electric varies from £37 per month in summer to £47 per month in winter the main difference is tumble dryer ( no option the garden gets no sun for months) but will also be more lighting and more kettles boiled for hot water bottles!
My gas useage in summer is £20 per month which is hot water for baths/showers/dishwashing and cooking
It can be £120 in winter due to heating needs
I live in far colder climes than you
I participate in Octopus saving sessions but have nothing really to change, I never wash/tumble at 5 to 6 anyway
Are there any Octopus schemes where you can save on gas useage?
I would save more switching heating off for an hour than anything I could achieve with electric
You seem so knowledgeable I thought I would ask

It may still be worth a look at Agile Paspatur. My use is similar to yours, electricity around £32 in the summer £34-35 in winter, gas £15 in summer £35 in winter (my house isn't particularly warm). Using Agile I can shift the washing and tumble drying to cheaper times which is how there's little difference between summer and winter electricity. It may not work for you, but it's worth a look. At the moment we've got some very expensive days mind so it looks pretty horrific price wise, but it's a long game.
Worth also looking at gas tracker. I've not followed my prices closely but it seems to have been worth moving to that, price varies each day.4
