  • I applied earlier this morning for Santander Limited EA. Got confirmation on web browser that application received with ref no. Nothing further so far, expect that they are very busy.

I applied via the website yesterday and it was fine. Got a customer number email within mins and a email a few hours after saying the account was open. Unfortunately as a new customer I have to wait for them to mail some passwords to set up online banking. Not sure why they've not set it up so that can be done during the application like most other banks and building societies.
  • I've just opened the account and paid funds in. Account up and running and showing the credit. Took less than two minutes.
Caveat - I am an existing Santander account holder.

I opened yesterday, had email confirmation and then new account number an hour later.

I then just transferred the amount i wished from the old saver to the new.

Quite painless, unlike the experience when opening the old one.

Yes, same as above two posts. Closed the old easy saver. All good
  • Sorry if this has already been discussed. I'm finding it difficult to keep up given how quickly things are changing and moving.....

Those with (up to) £5K in the Barclays Rainy Day Saver, are you moving this to your new Santander Easy Access Limited Edition?

The Barclays account shows AER of 5.13%, with 5% the gross rate (the interest is paid monthly).

The Santander is 5.20% AER (irrespective of annual or monthly interest),

Using the AER for comparison, It seems that Santander is narrowly beating the Barclays RDS, but there may be other reasons to keep some money in the Barclays RDS.

    Any thoughts?

@Hattie627, I keep funds in my Rainy Day Saver, mainly because Barclay’s is my main current account and transfers are instantaneous. This means I can keep my current account at a near zero amount and transfer from my Rainy Day Saver as soon as I’ve got DD’s that need paying, knowing that there won’t be any delays.

Transfers from Santander saver are almost instantaneous in my experience
