I was able to open two in my sole name. It was my mistake, but nevertheless the two accounts are open.subjecttocontract said:Some on this forum have been able to open both sole & joint.
The rules is the rules but it ain't being policed very well !0 -
That is extremely odd. In what way did they inform you of that?chriskross said:DiamondLil said:I've just opened the account and paid funds in. Account up and running and showing the credit. Took less than two minutes.Caveat - I am an existing Santander account holder.
When I did it (existing customer) they said I had to send them a cheque!0 -
After I went through teh online set up process today I had to send documents in the post to validate my identity.
They won't get these for a couple of days - am I right in assuming if they don't do this and I have not put money in when they pull this I will only attract the 2.5% (or whatever it is)? Which I obviously don't want so will just close the account.0 -
You should get the rate that applies to the account issue that you signed up for, so 5.2%. If they lower the rate tomorrow, that'll presumably be Issue 4.silvercue said:After I went through teh online set up process today I had to send documents in the post to validate my identity.

I did the same, I've only funded one though.Qyburn said:

Husband and I are existing Santander customers (current account) and we were able to open two of these accounts, both Joint with me named as first applicant on one and him as first applicant on the other. Both have funds in them (pots for different purposes) and no issues so far.Qyburn said:

I tried to apply for one but got a very vague 'well be in touch via email it can take upto 5 working days'.
I then realised I had a very old and forgotten about Santander esavings account which I had a small amount of money in but never used the internet banking and didn't get paper statements for, as the old Santander was very clunky and required you to have a memorable phrase, memorable picture etc and so I never bothered to use it.
I reset the details and it is so much better these days - I tried to apply online via the internet banking whilst logged in, and got a message about 'Your Easy Access Saver account request has been received' - with something about having to carrying some final checks out before they open my account.
All very cloak and dagger, and I hope I get the 5.2% account and can shut one of the damn things if they insist I can only have one.0 -
Only one account per account issue is a very common restriction. Some banks IT will spot it right away - some even at application time - others clearly not.It is a clear condition of the account - the ramifications of breaching it - who knows.

It's actually been replaced by the Easy Access Saver - Issue 24 @ 2.50%.refluxer said:

The Special Edition and Limited Edition versions of this account are presumably reserved for the occasions when Santander actually makes the rate competitive !1 -
I think that tends to happen if you apply outside working hours.username said:I tried to apply for one but got a very vague 'well be in touch via email it can take upto 5 working days'.

I have a very active 123 lite current account and the previous version saver. I got the same message when I applied on a Sunday. I received a confirmation email, and it appeared on the app, quite early on the Monday morning.0
