Huge congratulations- a grandson and a mortgage nearly paid off - you are having a great 2024!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

2024 is indeed a good year LaPlan 👍
Thank you all for your good wishes 😘 We did a day run to see Baby Fortune this week as the parents were keen for us to meet him in his first week. He is such a poppet. Money saving may go out of the window from now on as I'm constantly tempted to buy him cute things 😂 Good job we'll be mortgage free soon 🥳
We've had a conversation with the pensions provider and are now waiting for an information pack from them to arrive so we can take the next step. We should have the lump sum in about a month's time.
We are going back up to visit Baby Fortune again in a week or so. FDawg has been booked into kennels and, as they have a 7 day minimum booking during peak season, we're going to stay in a hotel for a few nights and catch up with other family members/holiday a little too.
Thank you for your kind comments about my diary. It has been wonderful having you join me on this journey and I appreciate all the cheerleading and support. I may pop back and post an occasional update but I don't think I'll post regularly going forward - let's face it, I've been rubbish at that in recent months anyway 😂 I've developed lots of great money saving habits through this site which I intend to continue and I also hope we can now indulge in a few more days out, holidays, home improvements, etc. So more money spending than saving going forward. Who knows what the future holds though. There might come a time when I need the discipline and accountability of a diary and a litle help from my friends here again. I'm going to stay involved with the site though and cheer everyone else on.
I'll keep your posted on progress until MF day.
