The family at the PO where we used to live got caught up in this scandal - they lost everything and one of the post office owners served a custodial sentence for alleged theft. I see them occasionally, as they have remained locally, and have now secured housing back in Greying Town. Whilst I suppose a financial amount can be worked out for the lost business and housing assets, I'm not sure any amount of compensation will ever truly get them back the time and the life that they lost. All they ever set out to do was work hard, run a business provide a service to and for the community; and they ended up getting demonised, impoverished and cast aside. It's amazing they are still functioning human beings to be honest.
I certainly support substantial compensation for the victims, but also I hope that eventually the individual(s) or organisations that caused this catastrophe are named, shamed and absolutely held to account for their part in this whole sorry mess. Nothing will ever change unless we not only remember to exonerate innocent parties, but relentlessly expose wrong doing/doers and have effective punitive measures in place.

Hi there @Fortune_Smiles - I noticed you posted on my diary the other day so I thought I would have a read of yours - and what a great interesting read it was! I do hope Mr FS's nose is back where it should be and I was so pleased to read that he doesn't have to put up with the Narcissistic Boss anymore!😉
I loved reading your recipes, but unfortunately I'm on a Slimming World diet at the moment - the recipes are good on their site but nothing like as tasty as yours! The Goat's Cheese Walnut Tartins nearly did for me, plus the Banana pancakes today!😋😋😋
So I've subscribed and look forward to reading more of your interesting posts!
With regard to the Post Office scandal, I signed the petition to get that woman to hand back her CBE but of course this shouldn't be the end of it. It was interesting that only a few days before the TV drama came out there was only a few thousand people who had signed the petition - it had been out there for a couple of years - after the programme aired it took off and now there's a million signatures. Also I was sent a petition today for signature to ensure that the Government does not give that tech company any more contracts - I've signed of course. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

The software company and the PO coverup is outrageous. How did noone at Fujitsa not wonder if it was their tech when suddenly there was load of 'fraud' There must have been checks in Fujitsa and surely clauses in the govt contracts stating systems must work! (oh probably not given the Mone PPE contracts as well)DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

That's awful @Greying_Pilgrim😢 The more stories I read the more appalled I am. You can't put a price on what some have suffered.

Aww - that's lovely @beanielou. I sometimes leave little gifts out for our delivery guys - cream eggs at Easter, etc.

Oh they knew LaPlan. They had teams of people working 24/7 to correct the system mistakes. If you haven't seen Mr Bates vs The Post Office it's worth a watch.Merlin's_Beard said:Seasidegal58 said:Hi there @Fortune_Smiles - I noticed you posted on my diary the other day so I thought I would have a read of yours - and what a great interesting read it was! Watch this space @Merlins_Beard - over 9 million people have seen the programme so I suspect they'll look to use the format again.

Well done on trawling through my ramblings @Seasidegal58 and welcome to my adventures. I have to warn you though, 2023 was a rather dramatic year for us and I'm hoping 2024 will be rather more pedestrian. (If you ever have a moment of boredom to fill you might want to check out January 2023 in my previous diary - drama central!)
There are definitely no slimming meals being served in the Fortunate household at the moment 😂 We're nearly at the end of the festive fare now though so less calorfic content is on the way.
Well done on signing the petitions. I think this story goes deeper than we can imagine and by keeping the pressure on we might get to find out the full truth. And help the victims get redress and closure on the whole filthy business.
Lovely to have your company
