I listened to a series about how the scandal unfolded when it was on Radio 4. It was called the Great Post Office Trial, I think its still on Sounds. It wasn't a dramatisation like the STV one but a series by an investigative journalist. I'm just amazed that so many people seem to have never heard about it all.6

I listened to the series too, it was very interesting. Yet to watch the dramatisation, but got it recordedMortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

How could anyone believe that so many people were defrauding the Post Office in the same time frame? Why did that not make someone stop and think? Gross stupidity or deliberate disregard of the circumstances which should be dealt with by sackings and naming and shaming.6

I had heard about it Teapot but I didn't know it still wasn't resolved for so many people.South_coast said:I listened to the series too, it was very interesting. Yet to watch the dramatisation, but got it recorded
It's very powerful SC - I understand why so much media attention has followed the airing. Very sad that it takes a tv programme to get things moving though.Pollie said:How could anyone believe that so many people were defrauding the Post Office in the same time frame? They all knew what was going on Pollie - it was a massive cover up. I just can't believe something like that could happen in the UK. What is heartening is that a small group of committed individuals made a difference - even if it did take them 20 years! Total respect to them.

What gets me is that this information has been freely available for a few years, I don't watch TV but I knew and was horrified a while back. Maybe it was only in HR press but I thought it was common knowledge, and ever since I read about it I have added to any investigation I do 'is it just the computer proving evidence' because I now know that technology also tell lies.
Outrageous. One of the ones that shocks most is the teenage girl who's family paid off the 'stolen' money when she didn't do anything, I can imagine this being my sons, and thinking that they didn't do anything, that it was all a mistake and paying anyway in the face of the evidence. Heartbreaking and relationship breaking stuff. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I absolutely agree SH. However, the costs the Post Office have racked up hiding their mistakes and now paying out in compensation all comes down to the taxpayer in the end. I do not begrudge a penny to those affected - no amount can compensate them adequately for what they've had to go through. But someone at the Post Office and Fujit$u has to be held to account.redofromstart said:What gets me is that this information has been freely available for a few years, I don't watch TV but I knew and was horrified a while back. I, too, knew about the scandal when it broke Redo. I just assumed it would all have been resolved by now and there's been little press attention since. So pleased that the tv programme has given this a wider audience and the legs it merits. But sad that it's taken a tv programme to do it!

Income...ing 😆
I chased up our oustanding invoice yesterday and found that they are waiting for us to upload some reports to complete the job. The lovely lady I'm talking to about it said, if we can upload the reports today, they'll process the invoices in next week's run for us. It's a brand new system to Mr F and quite complex so I think it will take some time for him to get the knack of it. We've just had a job confirmed with the same client for 5 days next week. It will mean Mr F being away for the week but will also mean we'll hit (and probably exceed) our target income for January. Hoorah! At least we know something will be coming in at some stage.
The house is now empty of cake, biscuits, chocolates and port (well open bottles anyway). Thank goodness as I found I couldn't resist the call of the chocolates whilst I was ironing yesterday 🤭 The only thing in need of decluttering now is half a small bottle of white chocolate liqueur which I'm sure I can manage this evening 😆
Breakfast yesterday was pain au chocolat and croissants left over from our New Year celebrations. There are no croissants left in the freezer now but two pain au chocolat remain which I'll probably have for breakfast whilst Mr F is away next week. Lunch was Sweet Potato, Black Bean & Halloumi Frittata with salad leaves - more in line with our usual plant based diet although it did contain cheese 😆 I flagged in the evening so we had beans on toast for supper. Today, I am determined to get back to a normal (for us) meal plan. Breakfast was Banana Pancakes with yoghurt and a summer fruit compete made with berries from the freezer (we skipped the bacon and syrup). Lunch will be leftover frittata with a green salad and supper may be a tomato and spinach whole wheat pasta of some sort. Hopefully, snacks will not be required 😂
I have walked FDawg for a mile or more with Mr F three days this week so far and also did an hour of Tai Chi yesterday. I don't think I've offset a fraction of the calories I've consumed but it's better than nothing 😆
I sent out a briefing email for the next WI writing group meeting and completed the writing exercise we'd set. Mr F is now about half way through his lego project. It's nice to do something in the evening which doesn't involve sitting in front of the television. Although I've still got the Ma$k£d $ing£r to catch up on 😆
It's still not raining here and it's Friday tomorrow!
