I vote for just cultivating a very polite but firm no!. I've had tradespeople do that with me in the past, a completely outrageous quote, and then when I've said yes (either because I prefer their work, or I'm struggling for other options) they mess about and cause loads of hassle because actually they just didn't want to do it whatever the money. I'd far rather they just said no! Definitely flyers for the other people though - they may well appreciate the business.
Here's the current state of the grass just outside the chicken run 😂 I can't bring myself to do anything because really it's just aesthetic for us now, although it does make mowing the grass even more difficult than it already is 😂
Anyway, will quit spamming your diary with mole woes 😂 Or else you might be sending Mr F round just to shut me up! 🤭7 -

In the words of Jiminy - "Let your conscience be your guide." And Mr F will send you a quote 😂

Wow to the moles! I'm live in quite an urban area so I haven't heard of any mole issues locally although a friend of mine who lives some miles away and whose home backs on to the local common had to call out the Mole Man few years ago because they had really made a mess of her lawn!
Agree with the others though about the cheek of some people expecting Mr FS to work for free on their own mole problems!
I saw you made Cabbage Soup. It looked a lot better in the recipe photo than the type I made years ago when The Cabbage Soup Diet was all the rage! It stunk out the kitchen and I shall not go into what it actually did to my insides......🥴

I'm surprised he didn't refer the mole catcher requester to you - you are very good at the firm but no type conversations.
Even public sector organisation will pay 50% upfront if they really value particular skills so I wouldn't automatically accept their no as a no...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The cabbage soup is quite tasty @Seasidegal58 and I always pop a parmesan rind in to give it a bit more umami. The recipe doesn't guarantee an aroma free result though 😂😂😂savingholmes said:I'm surprised he didn't refer the mole catcher requester to you - you are very good at the firm but no type conversations.

I did offer to have the conversation @savingholmes 😆

Still waiting...
but there is news. We received a remittance advice this morning for one of our three invoices 🥳 The money will take up to five working days to hit our account 🙄 but it will be enough to cover our set up costs and expenses so far. Hoorah! We haven't received a reply yet about the other two invoices. Mr F is away on a job at the moment but will be back on Thursday evening so I'll get him to chase things up on Friday. And of course this means I'll have another invoice to send out at the weekend.
It's all quiet in the Fortunate household at the moment. The boiler is limping along but I've filled the log baskets just in case it puts up a protest. It's having to work very hard at the moment because of the drop in temperature. We even had a light snow/storm of tiny hail/heavy frost yesterday morning - it was difficult to work out which 😆
I've been having a break from cooking and living off salad, sandwiches and out of the freezer but the diet is continuing to get healthier.
I'm off to a meeting about the Country Show this evening and someone else is hosting and co-ordinating 😁 I'm really looking forward to it 😉

Great that one is on the way to be paid. It's all a learning game at the moment isn't it... A lot of organisations are slow payers though.

This waiting to be paid lark drives me round the bend. I have a couple of organisations that I have to bill regularly for work, one of them has 'mislaid' my November invoice, I know they received it as I got an automatic reply after it was emailed. They told me it was processed for payment before Christmas but it turns out this just means its been sent to finance who then have a further 30 days to pay out and I've noticed the remittance advice from both parties tends to land on a Thursday/Friday with a further 3 -5 working days to wait so well into the following week. Grrrr3
