An in-between phase

Well this f*cking build just keeps on giving. Today the building controller casually mentioned we need another partition wall and fire door. Just a huge bit of structural work that will cost a few thousand that no-one thought to mention in the last half a decade. And as we already have a partition wall in, we'll barely be able to move. And the site insurance is about to run out which will cost another grand. And the shower door company is refusing to replace their damaged product.

That sounds like very painfully hard work indeed. May I suggest blasting Skrillex and 'K1ll Everybody' down the line to anyone else who annoys you today?

Hang on … Why do you need a further partition wall? I thought the original design was open plan - can you not just beef up the partition wall you decided on, to meet Fire Regs?
I know it doesn't feel like but if we are talking about tiles and internal doors and shower screens this week, you are getting quite close to completion …. hang on in there …

Jeepers to the continual build rubbish.
As you know my understanding of self build is based on Kevin McLeod visiting a building site, and talking to the owners who describe a massive house they will be building with a massive budget but in a very short timescale. Part way through the couple run out of money but are given more by family/friends so that they don't need to compromise on their hand built from recycled antique Georgian oak panels kitchen with worktops made from marble imported from a rural part of Sardinia. And luckily the swimming pool can be finished too and filled with filtered Himalayan mountain water. And everyone is very smug and self congratulating. And now you are telling me that it's more complex and stressful than that? 🙄6 -
Ha ha yes! And the builders never get any tea on those programmes, use the loo, or tell their life stories in great detail.Or have a radio on full blast.

It befuddles me how casually incompetent these people seem to be at the things they must do everyday
