We only have one carpet in the house and that’s on the stairs and landing, everywhere else is hard flooring. We always use a local family owned carpet shop.
Re the kitchen, have you thought about a joiner/carpenter who could build bespoke cabinets rather than a kitchen company.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1 -

I'm sure they are delightful if expected @beanielou but we are very traumatised by the bedroom paint 😂 Currently considering peel and stick wallpaper as an option on the grounds that it can't possibly come out worse...
That's a lovely idea @Sun_Addict but fitting the kitchen is included in the builders costs, and also we are up to our eyeballs in chasing people to do things, adding getting quotes and hoping the random tradesperson actually turns up and actually does a decent job is way beyond our current capacity

Mini-egg prices are ridiculous this year. They will soon be a currency in their own right! Always give the bag a little squish to determine 'air-in-bag' to mini-egg ratio as that's getting a bit skanky as well.
