    Thanks luvs.

    Collective brain, a fence conundrum-

The garden is about 14ft 2-3 inches long.

All fence panels etc seem to come in a standard 6ft.

We don't have enough funds spare to get something custom made.

We don't want a ~2ft gate etc at one end.

We also don't want a 1ft+ gap at both ends.

This however seems the likeliest result. We could put plant in big planter there but that doesn't deter foxes or a determined intruder.

We could block the gaps up with bricks but that feels like it will look a bit rubbish, especially when it comes to try to sell.

    Any thoughts?

We don't have fence panels. Our fences were built to exact length of back garden & front courtyard. Posts put in, horizontal struts fixed on, then vertical slightly overlapping lengths of wood (of required height) screwed onto those.

Will there be planting by the fence?

One of my back drive fence panels was just cut to size and put up. When it went in it looked 'odd' but by the time the 'landscape' had taken over -it is me think weeds, assorted clutter and trees that need pruning - but if it were say KK think gorgeous planting - then the odd fence panel blends in. No one has ever noticed the "cut" fence panel here.

Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

I have a cut fence & most of my neighbours do. It is not at all unusual. The one thing I would say is that they are a little more vulnerable simply because they have been cut. What I would say is once you can get at the new fence panels. Take them out & paint them, turn them upside down & paint them, turn them again & paint them. The ones I did lasted nearly 20 years next doors are lucky to last 2.
