Oh sweet optimistic @KajiKita 😂
Nope, still just doling out our meagre life savings as every time we attempt to achieve a job apparently another three are needed before we can do that etc etc etc, it's like a pyramid scheme except we're the only ones paying 😭😂😭2 -
I'm sure no-one's in the slightest bit interested but as a rough idea:
We research mortgage brokers, contact many, wait for replies, compare quotes, choose
Mortgage broker needs lots of information that we spend ages prising out of surveyor
We have to arrange meetings during working hours with mortgage broker
We get mortgage offer but it turns out we all need to be listed on the title deeds and the land needs to be split in two on titles before lender will release any money
We research solicitors, contact many, wait for replies, and then we research more solicitors as apparently this is too complex for most legal minds, then we get a lot of conflicting information about who is able to be represented by whom, and are still trying to figure this out
Land registry will take many many many months2 -
In the meantime we research builders, make contact, wait for replies, get quotes, choose, need to submit approx one thousand more drawings and documents that we don't know what they are so have to wait for surveyor to respond to our many begging requests for our own paperwork
Builder becomes ill so we repeat the process
Preliminary build works begin and we pay lots of money which is not provided by build mortgage because see above
Things that should have been done or at least flagged by surveyor a year ago arise that need to be done before pre build work can continue so we have to contact, wait for reply, pay for things like second phase land contamination report, which we are still waiting on results of
Builders need us to provide an office and changing room which we clearly don't have as we're not a big company so we pay out loads of money to garage owner next to site
We also need to pay for their parking permits that of course were refused by council so we re-apply and are still waiting on2 -
Today's builder highlight was finding a random clay pipe that runs the length of the site that no-one knows what it is or why it's there. We have asked surveyor to review as we have no-one else to ask. We fully expect this to be an ancient protected monument that we will have to pay one million pounds to the council for as an apology for having uncovered it2

In the other meantime, we have to get utility provider agreements that we can access their services so we have to pay them money for the privilege of being able to give them further money. Thames send over a form which we have to fill in full of information we couldn't possibly know. We have to pay another company to work out what on earth they're talking about2

Oh PII really feel for you and they wonder why houses are not being built. As you know we have just completed on a land sale awhich has taken between 5 and 10 years to complete.1

Oh I haven't even finished yet @ladyholly, I just got a five minute ban for posting too quickly 😂
So glad for you that bit's done though, what a completely needless strain on everyone's lives1 -
Wow, the building process sounds so complex. Credit to you for even getting this far.
Congratulations on the coins being valued at £3k! Unexpected treasureIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Fortunately (ha!) in another meantime, we have had to hire that company anyway to deal with the seven outstanding consents that the surveyor lied for the whole of last year had been dealt with, unfortunately this requires the surveyor who is the gatekeeper of all the documents relating to this build actually sharing those documents or admitting that he doesn't know what he's doing or hasn't done them. This is still very much ongoing and we are nowhere near anyone working on let alone submitting those consents2
