I have absolutely had one for you @dreaming. Why do mice eat freezers 😭 Also why do you not live within walking distance of a pub, do you have a diary aiming to rectify this shocking situation?! 😁

Don't have any cats we could borrow @Sallyforth. That's interesting about you and neighbours, t'internet research says they're not in reality very effective but I guess it depends on each individual cats temperament etc

Just to clarify my position on pub-distance as there are actually 2 that used to be within easy walking distance. They haven't moved but I have become more housebound due to illness over the last couple of years. Although, to be honest, I rarely drink anyway and was never much of a pub-goer even back in the day. I never understand why people always suggest getting a cat to solve mouse invasion. Over the last 50 or so years I have had 8 cats (at overlapping times - not all at once) and one sat on a sofa with me and happily watched 2 mice scamper round the room but made no attempt to catch them (this was when I lived more rurally so mice were regular visitors). The cat I have now (Smiffy - aptly named for those who remember the Bash Street kids (Smiffy is absent-minded, and somewhat dumb, however that doesn't stop him from coming up with plans)) - actually brings in live mice, lets them go, then immediately loses interest. I sort-of wouldn't mind if he actually ate them (as my daughter's cat does, except for the kidneys) but no - it's like buying some exotic vegetable from the supermarket on a whim, bringing it home, then leaving it in the cupboard because you have no idea what to do with it

@dreaming - I have a cat like that!  In the very unlikely event that he manages to catch something he drops it on the floor and walks away as if to say that he can't remember what the point of the exercise was.

Oh mousey! <said with hands on hips> Will you please move on and leave PiP in peace!

Egg, chips and beans sounds like proper grey-Sunday comfort food to me 😊

Well we spent most of yesterday evening upending furniture and fruitlessly chasing a mouse down in the living room. No wonder I'm extra achey, though on the bright side everything we consume must be calorie neutral atm what with these workouts

Woke up at 5.20 this morning thinking about your damn mouse! I was wondering where you have sited the traps? We have always had a greater success rate with traps placed right up adjacent to the wall, whether the capture has been in the pantry or a room. Anyway, I hope today is the day.

Haha, sorry for the transmitted trauma @foxgloves
Traps are indeed adjacent to walls

    Thanks @KajiKita and @Blackcats
We're now wondering where we can eat in the flat without disrupting, encouraging, or frankly seeing a mouse!
