  • Isn't it just @Sun_Addict! There is zero chance of us going there with no winners tab, quiz or no quiz
  • I know this is terribly British of me, but I genuinely can't believe how early and quickly it gets dark now 😂

Not the most productive day as we were both tired from 3.45am upstairs noise, then the internet reception in the flat was even more rubbish than usual- poor Mr PIP has had to go and sit in the nearby park in the dusky cold for an online meeting!

Managed to get usual admin done and Sainso and coop receipt surveys

Achey joints managed a shower and hairwash

Sent a no nonsense response to the housing association who seem to think that now I've been told my appeal for tenancy has been rejected my complaint has been resolved. I very much do not think so!
If you're going to make someone who's done nothing wrong homeless the least you can do is let them know where they stand sooner than 20 weeks.
At least I had/have places to stay, but what about those who become more vulnerable, or ill, or slip into a worse life they otherwise wouldn't have. I'm cross on my own behalf but even crosser that a literal housing association thinks this is an acceptable way to treat the very people it should be helping.

    Did a survey

Had a lunch time walk with Mr PIP and used a Sainso nectar voucher on their wine deal to get some Christmas gifts

Did a small bit of work

Had a little mid afternoon tart courtesy of Olio and the freezer

Entered some competitions, today I'm mostly looking forward to winning a £400 amazzon voucher

Dinner is a reasonably priced and very classy egg, chip n beans 😊

Egg, chips and beans is a no no for me.  Just egg and chips please.  I can't abide how those pesky beans and their slippery juices spread all over the plate and then how the egg yolk and the bean juice merge in an uncontrolled splodge all over the plate.  I think @EssexHebridean had the same for her tea at the weekend so there must be something good about that combination but not for me thanks.  Just think how much money you'll save though when you cook my tea without beans.

On a more serious note the housing association are disgraceful.  Where do they think you are living?  Surely with your health condition they have some responsibility for your safety and welfare?
  • I have the same ick factor with other things together on a plate but eggs, chips and beans just works, maybe because you can have a protective barrier with the chips!
Still, good to know you're a cheap date @Blackcats 😂

Re the housing association, they don't care where or if people are living if those people don't fit their stringent criteria. My health condition or other peoples' is utterly irrelevant to them, and their responsibility extends as far as telling you to apply to the council for housing.
To apply to the council for housing you have to be able to prove you've been resident in the borough continuously for the last three years. Which is clearly easy to do even if you have, if you've been made homeless and waited the best part of half a year for a final response from the housing association.
If you haven't been in the borough for the last three years despite all your ties and support being in that area then you can go and apply to another council, where you haven't been living, that has the same criteria.
No wonder so many 'normal' let alone extremely vulnerable people are so utterly, utterly f***** when they just want a roof over their head and to pay their way

They do like to make things hard !

Egg, chips and Henderson’s relish is my all time fav comfort food …… why would you ruin it with beans ?

  • The chips as a barrier is absolutely the thing that makes eggs, chips and beans acceptable. Also - possibly unpopular opinion...beans are NOT a breakfast food! (And yes poncey breakfast places, that includes if you supply them in an irritating little ramekin that makes it close to impossible to dig them out anyway!) Also - and similarly likely to be problematic - beans on toast is an aberration. Beans alongside toast - fine. Beans ON toast - bleurgh. (See also scrambled egg, for this!)

Feel free to imagine me muttering under my breath about the HA and the lack of concern about whether folk are actually adequately housed. I say this from the point of view of someone who is in her work capacity about to write to a local authority (also London, strangely enough) to ask them to please stop harassing our client over service charges that weren't paid dating from years prior to her buying the property!

Absolutely agree there needs to be a barrier between eggs and beans - I usually opt for sausages as the barrier as it tends to be when DH cooks a fry up at the weekend so no chips anyway!

Also agree that scrambled eggs or beans need to be alongside the toast not on top!  Can't abide soggy toast!

  • Ah, where else could you find housing associations and beans being equally important topics 😊😂

    Today's bits:

Internet still awful but bits of work and admin done as well as another Sainso receipt survey (we do a lot of small shops rather than one big one)

Very wussy situps done, thought I'd better make an attempt before period starts and I'm even more broken than usual

Really didn't fancy a rainy lunchtime walk so did 20 minutes walking on the spot

    Did a coop survey

    Bit more small work

Briefly had enough internet to sort out some financials:

Got paid for a couple of jobs so put that money in current account with interest rate, and portion to tax pot

Premium bonds money arrived so put that in the flat pot minus a small amount to treat Mr PIP to a date night in

Got PiP money so sent that to dental pot, from which I can withdraw if I need cabs or other health related helpfulness

Met up with my Dad's former partner who brought a bag of bits of his to give to me, so feeling a mix of how nice to still have a good relationship with her and be given some things, and also really sad seeing these emblems of Dad's ideas and hopes and treasured items.

The treasured items are a few pieces of trench art, I presume from his Dad who died when I was little, so also feeling sad at not knowing the story behind these items, and feeling sad that people were in a situation to make items from used munitions in trenches or hospitals, and that the people in power around the world never seem to bloody learn, or care.

Anyway, enough of that. Going to appreciate my privileged life of enjoying a glass of red wine and Mr PIP cooking dinner. Hope you're all feeling content and safe and able to do the things that lead to more contentment and security x
