@PennysIntoPounds - We ALL have those days. I may sound bright-eyed & bushy-tailed most of the time, but I can assure you that I have days like that too, which I think of as 'wobbles'. I think I feel a bit more vulnerable to life after being poorly back in Spring & finding out that I am not as invincible & healthy as I thought I was. I think you are in a really frustrating position waiting for so long to hear if you can progress that build project. I have been on a local council planning team & I can't think what factors could be dragging it out so long for you. Sometimes, there have to be reports requested from 'HIghways' if there are access issues, or 'Environment' if it is a newt hotspot or similar, plus checking things like drainage/waste water are not going to be a problem, but you really do seem to have been left waiting a very long time. Do you chase it regularly? I expect you do, so don't mean to sound as though I am being Mrs State the bloomin' obvious. I think we'd just all like to be hearing you have had positive news on it, & I know you definitely would.
That taxi was taking the absolute p*ss!! It's what I think we have all come to expect on New Year's Eve, but I can't remember ever having to pay an exorbitantly invented fare just because the weather was tricky. It's not as if you are in East Scotland. I would like to imagine karma coming for them when they knocked off work, went for some fish & chips and were charged 3 times the amount because of the weather forecast. What a cheek!
Hope you are being gentle on yourself today. I had to smile about you missing the McThingy tokens game. It reminded me of years ago when the C**p had a 'Scrabble' promotion. Customers were given a leaflet with a scrabble board diagram made up with words which were items the shop sells. For every £5 spent, customers would receive a letter or two to stick on & when a word was completed, you could take it in & be given the item as a prize. Some of the words would involve money prizes - naturally those letters were the ones nobody ever seemed to get! I can remember being in a pub with friends in an area where the C**p was the main food shop & everyone on our table seemed to be sitting around asking what spare letters people had got for swaps, etc, I think I did win a very small grocery item, but was surprised that I actually missed the promotion when it was finished. It was quite funny seeing people open their latest letters at the till & saying 'Nooooo, I don't want any more 'A's, I need a 'K' & a 'G' ! And as with al competitions, there was that little glimmer that you might win one of the money prizes.
F2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (29/100)

unfortunately @blackcats is unable to comment on football scores at this time. Apparently their coverage and all reporting ended after 45 minutes of the Saturday evening game. Therefore a 2 0 home win is recorded in their household and cannot be disputed.

I don’t do football at all in any way shape or form but am amused by your football rivalry with @Blackcats 🤣🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Just had a catch up of the last 10 days or so.I hope you are feeling better PIP. It’s rotten feeling rubbish and having anxiety about the future and having unbearable Uber exploits. And on top of that not having any Mr McD tokens to scavenge! Poor you. Hopefully life will pick up soon.Going back to your ‘shall I, shan’t I?’ dilemma about going away, I’m with the go for it gang. (But you may have made up your mind and I missed that!)I believe it’s the time spent with friends in lovely places that makes up for every penny. It allows for relaxation, social interaction, positivity, gratitude, living in the moment and all round good life ingredients. If it doesn’t put you in dire money straits then it’s a life plus point. And then of course there’s the beer…… 😁We have made a decision to fly to Guernsey in March for a couple of nights because a football team (nobody notable) from my husband’s childhood home town is playing there. Friends he has known since infant and junior school are going too and we’ll have a ball I’m sure (excuse the pun)! He’s 63 so the relationships are worth maintaining. The pennies spent will turn into happy memories and stay in my mental piggybank far longer than any other type of savings pot.And then of course there’s the beer….. 😁1

Thanks @foxgloves, I appreciate your kind words. I do sometimes feel like I'm making a bit of a **** of myself on here, but I tell myself if you can't be honest on your own mse diary then it doesn't bode well for being honest enough with yourself about what needs to be done to achieve the life you want! Although that achievement would be made easier with some blimmin answers! We do chase it up regularly, but thank you for being Mrs State the obvious, as often one can be too close to a situation to see an obvious thing. The coop scrabble sounds a lot of fun, especially with the swapsies element. Adults aren't given enough opportunities for innocent play, and I don't believe it stops being essential for development after primary school2

@Blackcats please pass on my congratulations to @blackcats for the victory in their household
( @Sun_Addict someone's team outplayed us and were a sure thing for a 2-0 win until someone else's team snatched not one but two brilliant goals late in the game for a draw and points shared)1 -
Cheers @Slowdown I know none of these minor or major issues are that awful, but you know what it's like when you feel like everything is being rubbish at you and there's nothing you can do about it. That trip away sounds fantastic, what a nice thing to do. We're still pondering whether to take advantage of this promotion, I'm in equal minds as to this being *clearly a good deal and now especially we need to make nice couple time together, that we'll really enjoy and it's not putting us in debt and we'll make nice memories*, and *spend quarter of a thousand pounds on one night away when you don't even have your own rented let alone mortgaged home, are you actually mad woman?!* So yeah, in two minds 😂
Though I'm sure that McMo 100k will be coming our way soon, in which case I will even consider two nights away. But no more, I'm not made of money 😁0 -
Forgot to say that yesterday I found 4p on the street along with a rogue McMo token for a free apple pie or fruit bag, and today found 5p and a book that ziffit has accepted for 10p. Slowly but surely getting closer to that home-owning 😂😭😂
Entered some competitions, today I'm mostly looking forward to winning a thousand pounds
We successfully dropped off the vinted parcel with a bit of manly manoeuvring by Mr PIP getting it into a small compartment as the lockers didn't have any other size options, and also dropped off a bag of plastic food wrapping to the recycling point- and were very glad of those shops closing at 5 instead of 4 on a Sunday
Had a lovely catch up with a friend and saw lots of old faces behind the bar which was really nice
And the Greek take-away was much enjoyed by all. It was very pleasing to be able to treat mum and Mr PIP, and it was £4 short of the allocated spend so that can go in the flat pot

Not sure I've ever heard quarter of a thousand pounds before 🤣🤣🤣 My head initially thought quarter of a million and I was wondering what kind of holiday was that!?!?!
Sounds like you want to go on holiday but maybe not that particular one, it's just the gateway to the idea 😀0 -
Ha sorry for being confusing @WelshmansDaughter It's because looking at properties in this area we reckoned we'd want to have £100,000 more than we have/could get mortgage on for a flat two adults could fit into. Obviously with my genius grasp of maths I was like 'how hard can it be, even I have £1000 so we just save/win/make that 100 times, sorted' 😂
But now I view all spends as a proportion of one of our thousand poundses 😁
I do want to go on this break, I just don't want to feel like it's put us a quarter of a thousand pounds away from being able to get our own place. A gal's got to have an aim no matter how daft it is!3
