Blimey I have gone on, apologies and thanks to anyone reading. Suppose I did do a round-up of where I'm at for the start of the month after all!1

She was quite an anxious woman I suppose. She did have a steam mop that I loved.
I'd put a tiny house on the land 😀1 -
Interesting to read about your hopes of building on a piece of land, @PennysIntoPounds. Have you actually applied for planning permission or are you just finding out if it's feasible or whether the idea would likely be rejected out of hand? I served 4 years on a local council planning committee a while back & applications which had been refused first time round would sometimes be resubmitted after addressing whatever the sticking point was. I can understand you finding it frustrating that you & Mr Pip can't buy a place together. London prices really are crazy, aren't they? I have joked with my sister that if she sold her little c.1890s house in London & moved up our way, they could buy a detached period property with a big garden & double garage for what they get for it. That's how daft it is. I don't know how people even get a foot on the ladder......I guess the answer is that far too many of them don't. Sorry it is such a disheartening situation.

Thank you @foxgloves. Yes, we've applied for planning permission, it was granted, then it turned out the architects had failed to take into account the sewer that serves the street that we'd have to divert. Rather than opening that can of fatbergs and having to add dealing with the dreadful Thames Water into the already complex process, we re-submitted the plans making the builds smaller and additionally further away from the neighbours but otherwise the exact same. For some reason this has proved to be entirely beyond the council's ability to engage with. Hopefully we'll have an answer very soon! It's been dragging on for years now 😭 and all the time we're losing money that we need to build it and getting further into ages where banks can be hesitant to give mortgages. At least if it's a 'no' we'll know where we stand, this bureaucracy limbo is so damaging to the soul- and the wallet! And if it's a 'yes' we'll of course be pleased but it'll take a minimum of two years to build and of course winter is swiftly on its way so there'll be another half year delay on being able to start building...1

Today's mse things:
Little bit of work
Sainsbo receipt survey
Entered some competitions, today I'm mostly looking forward to winning a radio as it is my fervent belief every room should have one
Entered the Omaze competition, budget neutral as had some leftover pay in paypal, and a tenner to be in with a chance of somewhere to live is pretty attractive
Back to mums, making sure to travel outside of peak times for cheaper fares
We had a huge Olio bread haul the other evening so have brought some back with me to save buying it for a couple of days
Mr PIP won a bar tab *again* for the same pub we won the quiz in with our friends!
And he used our Shepherd Neame free pint vouchers for a drink with a colleague after work so that was a nice use of a freebie
And I got back to find that mum is cooking us a delicious cheesy leek and potato pot for dinner, using up some free Olio potatoes. It's not too bad living back home 😁

Is the current Omaze prize at Gleneagles?

It is indeed @beanielou. I love Scotland and would love to be able to spend more time there other than the occasional Edinburgh festival. It would be quite the quandry as to whether to keep, sell, or rent if we won. The property is worth 3.5million and for that we could get a place in London and have money left over to afford accommodation at the fringe and explore further parts! It would be a nice problem to have 😊2
