@PiP - I read Chinua Achebe's 'Things fall apart' last year. Very interesting & thought-provoking novel. Currently reading "Birnham Wood" by Eleanor Catton. Next book lined up is Rory Stuart's "Politics on the Edge". I get very twitchy when my reading pile starts to diminish!

  • SO tidy @beanielou 😂

Ooh those both look good @foxgloves, will add them to my birthday/christmas wish list. My current reads are This is London by Ben Judah which I am eaking (?/eking/ekeing) out as it is so good, you'd definitely find it fascinating I think. And The Shepherds Crown by Terry Pratchett, What Does Jeremy Think by Suzanne Heywood, and The Guilty Dead by P.J. Tracy
Then in the dipping-into pile are The Infinite Tortoise by Joel Levy, Dead Aid by Dambisa Moyo, and Working the Room by Geoff Dyer.
Like you I get twitchy without sufficient reading material!

I tidied the kitchen today too - a kitkat chunky Easter egg to celebrate the shiny new tax year 🙃

so pleased to hear that you will be moving to your friend's flat.  It will be nice for you and MrPIP to have your own place while you plough through formalities and practicalities of your build.

I'm partial to a glass of Picpoul too - just saying ....in case there's ever a competition to win a barrel full and you win.

I’ve just finished reading Eye for an Eye by MJ Arlidge, can highly recommend if you come across it. I don’t think my reading pile will ever diminish with approx 150 books currently waiting to be read on my bookshelves 😆

  • Cheers @Blackcats, we'll be putting the money saved on rent and travel away for the build costs and if nothing has happened in a year then at least we'll have a wee bit of deposit to try to get somewhere (tiny and in a sh*t area) of our own!
Well done you for your kitchen tidying work 😂
Picpoul is bloody lush innit, it's by far my favourite white wine but too pricey for the likes of me to have more than very, very occasionally. When I am rich the picpoul supply shall be a priority (obviously including enough for you to come round in yer crocheted knickers) 😁

Thanks for the recommendation @Sun_Addict, will keep an eye out for that (pun not intended). Ah 150 unread books on the shelves sounds like bliss. Also a very pleasing retirement 'job'!

I don’t think I’ve ever come across picpoul 🤔 I do love a good Chilean Sauvignon Blanc despite preferring red wine.

The book I recommended covered a very dark subject and was a tad violent in places but very thought provoking.

You have been more productive than me today, @PiP. I did get the ample backside into gear for a short while before deciding to spend this afternoon reading the Observer & starting my next book.
