I haven't stopped all day but have hardly done a thing of the list!
I'm glad I am not the only one with bits and pieces, not quite the button tin my mum used to have, cutting off shirt buttons and all sorts to save.
My list has had a big dent. I got DH to come to pick up my shelving unit for the utility room (the box was heavy!) and then went to the Range for a new recycling bin. Swing top bin, no frills £49.99I would have liked to have gone for something cheap and plastic but they didn't have anything and that was the only one that would fit and was big enough. I painted the wall (two coats) and the woodwork around where it was to go. I asked DH if I could borrow his tools to build it knowing that he would rather do it than let me play with tools so he put it together. As we went to lift it up to put in place I asked him if there should be little holes all down the sides. Doh he had put the sides on inside out
. We then had to take it apart and rebuild it. It is now in place and works really well as all the carp that was on the worktop is now on the shelving apart from the icemaker and the deep fat fryer so there is space for doing the laundry or sorting the freezer so I am happy. Just need to sort the other side and do the rest of the decorating in there now, maybe next weekend as we are out the following one and the one after that is Robbie Williams! I am getting quite excited as he is playing locally and I got 2 tickets for Christmas, but DH and DD are not really interested, DS and DDIL are at a wedding so I have no-one to go with
Dinner is done, DD WU, I have dried up and put away so the kitchen is clean and tidy so I think its cuppa and an early night with the iPad as back at the paid stuff tomorrow.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!7 -
Nothing from the list, but I have worked (from home), emptied and restacked the DW, washed/dried towels and washed the second load ready for drying tomorrow, flea-treated the cat and sorted the litter tray, did my Italian lesson for the day and took the car for fuel/car wash. This evening I was out for two hours volunteering for the community fridge. I also called the energy company, sent a follow up email and sent another email to sort out a refund. That will have to do.
Tomorrow will be very busy with an appointment and a meeting after work. At some point before 4:30pm I'll need to get in the bath, hoover the car and send out some minutes/an agenda. Could get interesting.6 -
I'm probably not quite on the right day or the right list, having had a few days of visitors so tidied/shopped last week to excess. Took Mum home on Sat eve and came home ourselves late last night. Today:
- 2 loads through WM; one lot dried on washing line, brought in and put away. 2nd lot still out as no rain forecast overnight. Overnight bag unpacked.
- greenhouse watered, tomatoes picked.
- caught up with reading emails but several need to be acted on in the next few days.
- moved mattresses around as our new one is arriving tomorrow. Vacuumed bedroom floor and under-bed dust as easier access without mattress. Tonight we will be in the spare room, which should confuse us thoroughly.
- went to zumba.
- went to visit R in hospital, going up on motorbike as weather was nice. Must admit I was a little anxious but all was fine. R's hip operation has been cancelled 4 times now - each time he has had food withdrawn pre-op which has done his blood sugar no good at all. Surgeon came round this morning and it sounds as if it will actually go ahead tomorrow.
Tomorrow I need to gym swim, sort out/put away toiletries bag from the weekend, double-check the week's calendar to make sure I know what is going on, pick more beans, start to give my study its summer clean and organise before term starts, check to-do list, cull some emails and doubtless lots of other things I will need to do. I really want a very productive day so I can get a grip on things. It also needs to be a week of re-setting the activity scene to ensure I will be able to cope with September's aquathlon.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.6 -
Morning all. Hope you're doing well.
Admin is out of the way this morning and I've put fresh covers on the sofas. Need to reset our alarm clock as there must have been a power cut in the night. Plans for this morning are changing bedding, walking Poppet and then tidying the garden as it is nice and sunny.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.7 -

Still around here. Summer holidays, DS-i-L working away, DD1 working, three DGC to entertain! Lost of blackberries been picked, lots eaten. DW on. Good start. I don't know how much else will be achieved.
Happy belated birthday to Squeak. Hugs to anyone who needs one. Anyone heard how ASB's important meeting went? Back soon, just of to sort a Lego dispute!!! Mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.8 -
Indoors- bedding changed, sofa throws changed. WM in overdrive but all able to go on line. Bedroom dusted. Carpets hoovered . Dailies done.
Outside - Poppet walked. Patio weeded. Not nearly as much as I was hoping to achieve.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
Bedding changed and queuing for washing tomorrow as it’s been raining cats and dogs here since the early hours. Today’s washing (DD’s bedding) strung up in the tiny utility room which is now also our kitchen. Gas hob disconnected this morning, so that’s my level 2 -clean hob - done for the day!
Hair cut done. QHI done. DD’s bedroom vacuumed before remaking the bed while she isn’t around. Having a rather strange lunch combo now, then it’s bathrooms and WULTD. Need to meal plan - still not done from the weekend. I’ve decided not to go into work this afternoon, so now I’m obviously feeling guilty.7 -
I am dead on my feet.We went to DD1's and have filled 2 wheelie bins with garden mess.. I hurt so much!!!
