Afternoon everybody :hello:
Just having a well-earned cup of tea and a sit down after what has so far been a very productive day. I have taken all my recycling down to the bins, braved Borough Market  in order to buy a Christmas tree which I brought home in my Wally Trolley , done some singing practice, been swimming, been to Tesco for some bits and bobs and it was perfectly bearable (little Tesco is bearable as there's a big Tesco a mile up the road whicch was presumably a nightmare).
This evening: tidy living room, decorate tree, do some singing practice (guess who's volunteered to sing a really tricky piece of Bach at church on Christmas morning ), write my "non posting" Christmas cards (that's the ones for my neighbours, colleagues and people at church) and wrap my mum's Christmas presents. I have got her 2 CDs, some posh chocs and some vanilla bath stuff from Lush.
PenPin - great that they let you home, but dare I say your idea of doing nothing sounds to me like a level of productivity I'd be quite impressed with? BEHAVE and rest up.
ivyleaf - Congratulations :j :j :j :j - they were right then when they said the second stage could be really fast :rotfl:
Right, starving, must eat.

Have shocked myself as I have just come back from shopping with DD.
DH was sent £25 of shopping vouchers which he said I could have- and I have not spent them!
DD got loads of presents and we got some really good bargains - managed to spend £15 and got the Max Factor gift worth £40 in Boots.
Got boots for her sister and nice top for another sister, boots for herself and some hair stuff.
Counting the free gift she has saved about £90!
Might wait till the sales and use the vouchers then."This site is addictive!"

Hi!
Happy Birthday to Mrs McCAwber!
Congratulations Ivyleaf on your new grandaughter!
Big hugs to TillyTrippit.
Well I broke up yesterday at the usual time. We don't bother finishing early as unfortunately certain families don't bother collecting their children any earlier, so it's just not worth it.
On Thursday evening DD1 and I went carol singing with a group from church (don't know why they asked me as I don't think I can sing very well) but we had a great time. It was really cold but we visited a few of our local housebound parishoners and they loved it, one even cried. Some of the group sing in the choir and have lovely voices and people kept coming out of their houses to give us money but we weren't collecting any! Afterwards we all went back to my friend's house for mulled wine and mince pies.
I haven't stopped today as I was at church for 2 hours this morning practising for the children's xmas pageant for tomorrow morning. Then I go back to church tomorrow evening to do one of the readings for our Festival of Lessons and Carols.
I've been stripping beds, washing and drying uniforms, coats etc I made some lovely mince pies this afternoon using the Trex recipe from this site and we had spag bol for tea. I've got to do some more wrapping so I'll do that while watching the tv.
Have a good evening!0 -
Ivyleaf & Dorry-Congratulations:j :j :j :j what fab news!!:T :T :T :T
Well the Tesco delivery came and there were quite a few things missing. There were also wrong substitutes which meant not gaining as much discount and the mince steak for tomorrow night is out of date tomorrow and wasnt cheap! I have sent a very strong worded complaint letter to Tesco stating the problems. The delivery driver was also quite rude to my OH. Wouldnt be so bad if I was well enough to go and get it myself, but I cant.
Anyway, I wont let it spoil the day:D
have just watched the conclusion of Oliver and was quite good, but didnt think Fagin was played well enough:rolleyes:
Hugs to all.

Good evening everyone,
CONGRATULATIONS IVYLEAF ON THE BIRTH OF YOUR NEW GRANDDAUGHTER (also Dorry on your DGD a few weeks ago!!!)
Well, football went well, DSs team won 6 - 2 and the team at the top of the table beat the second place team, so we are now second, which is wonderful for our boys. Some of the other parents and the coach were then going down to the football club for a christmas drink, so we went down and had a lovely afternoon. Only prob was we didnt get home until 6.30 and i had nothing ready for dinner!!! We also missed the first half of SCD, but never mind, we had a great afternoon (only a few drinks) so worth it.
I quickly made DS and i omelettes and DD some pasta and cheese (she refuses to even try an omelette, she really is miss picky) and we are now waiting the results show. Actually DS and DD are doing some wrapping and im not allowed to see what, so im having a cuppa and some chocolate orange!! I love Christmas!!!
Hope everyone has a lovely evening,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -

Evening Everyone
Congrats Ivyleaf.
Had the social members of the family down this afternoon dh's brother & wife, their younger daughter and husband and two kids and small dog, and my brothers son and wife. A bit of a pre-xmas get together, including seeing ds and celebrating his degree. Went very well dneice and husband snuck out leaving kids to go and get their eldest son a bike as hubby works away and struggled to get out without their ds. The kids were a dream, not perfect, but the elder who is 8 is well behaved but enjoyed wrestling with our ds22, and the 17 month old a bundle of mischief. Dnephew's wife enjoys kids (their daugher at a pantomine with dsil). Buffet tea went down well little one loves his food and sat on a bar stool with one of us at the side of him eating anything put in front on him.
Only about 3.5 hours but enough and very enjoyable, with no bad atmosphere at all. Our ds22 is vg with kids and played with them both all afternoon. I like to give the kids their presents a few days before Xmas as they get too much on the day, when young enough I used to create a letter from Santa saying he had too much to carry so would I give them then if they were good. It isn't it strange what you think may be an extra catches their attention, and they really take to it, the 8yo fell for a pencil case, the sort which has a zip round and is full of pens, pencils, geometry set etc., and went home clutching it. The 17 mo fell for the £land hot dog squeaky I bought for the dog!
SCD had started when they went, but I had put it on to record, so started watching it but nodded off, so just watching it now while DH is just taking him to the pub picking up a couple of his mates on the way.
Hope those of you not 100% are feeling a little better.

Congratulations ivyleaf on the safe arrival of Aimee Charlotte :j an adorable little grand daughter. What a wonderful Christmas bonus. I hope Mum is doing well.
It's already hot here. I'll venture in the kitchen very soon as it usually gets the afternoon sun and turns into a sauna after about 1pm. Hopefully I"ll be recovering on my bed by then.
MeanMarie They are so little aren't they. You will be thoroughly exhausted.
Well I better not linger on here. My cup is nearly empty. Have a good night's sleep. ByeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
