Went to the community fridge after the gym, got a bag of garden peas, courgettes, potatoes (peeled perfect for saving a bit of time tonight), chantenay carrots, three limes and about 6 bottles of J1F lemon juice. Noone was taking them as they didn't know what to do with them. I said I'll use them for cleaning with baking powder, especially the sink, smells nicer than vinegar.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/258

I was feeling a bit "ropey" this morning so had a bit of a lie in whilst Himself went out put my repeat prescription request into the Health Centre and did the shopping. He's getting really quite good at sticking to the list now. I felt much better after I got up (think it's not sleeping well that's the problem), changed and washed the bedding. All dried on the line now. Did a few household things. I'm another one who keeps putting very simple tasks off. Must get back to my "five minute" jobs.
Five dinner Sid has jus been in, wolfed down a bowl of cat food and disappeared, I strongly suspect he's upstairs having a nap.
I've been watching Berlin Station, Really enjoying it.
Himself is making dinner. A bit unusual for us. Baguettes with brie and ham. But we have everything in the fridge or freezer so it's a plus.
Footie on later so I'll be reading my book. Now re-reading The Boys from Brazil. A bit unlikely but a good story and easy to read.
Hope you've all had a good day. xxx

Planned spends here today, ordered a new bunch of nail wraps, £27 spent but they'll last a good few months. Something small that adds a little lift to my day. Also ordered some flyspray for the horse as he's all out and they really do bother him. Also an unplanned spend on a coffee this morning, had a shocking night's sleep, my back has flared up quite badly and kept me up half the night so I dropped by the coffee shop at work this morning. Productive day in the office too and good to catch up with colleagues.7

I have ordered a sparkly new walking stick.

NSD6 and my house is now sparkly clean on the top two floors.Fell into a surprise pile of filing, which is mostly sorted into vague subjects, and will be properly sorted... erm, 'Ron'? - Oh, yes, when it is next raining! Need some box files as mine have fallen apart.I have decided I need another couple of storage solutions. I need a designated linen closet, I have a closet, but will need to put shelves in it and boxes/bags to put like with like. Having 5 beds, each with own duvet, plus 3 spare single duvets(??) and a spare double duvet - which will be useful with the new sofa beds - I need to be more organised or I am going to drive myself insane chasing sheets and pillow cases. The tatty ones need to go, and I need to rid myself of the fear of the dreaded noro-virus to do that. It was once in our house for a full fortnight, going round and round in circles. It was horrific. It was also 12 years ago, and I need to get over that. Realistically I need 2 sets of bedding for each bed plus a warmer winter set each. Which is still 15 sets of flippin duvetry. Will also need a few vacuum pack bags for the actual spare duvets. Thanks for talking that through with me, it makes more sense now.Hopefully I will be able to find some in the c/s - I have quite a good success rate with brand new duvet sets still in their plastic.Tomorrow is going to be a good day - DH will be working outside the house, so I can move stuff around a bit more on the ground floor. Will have to spend money tomorrow, as the freezer is home to a tub of vege-mince, a couple of packs of pittas, and an icy tundra.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

@f0xh0les the horrendous experience of Norovirus in our house will never leave me…Mum was at her friend’s wedding today so we had to survive on our own. DS was at home, as was OH to share the caring and to give us each time for slots of uninterrupted work. DS is only wee which means the world revolves around him and if he wants to talk to you about Mario or ask why the sky is blue, then you will need to seriously listen! 🤣During work today I interviewed a colleague I’d never spoken to before to write a story about her job for our website. She was really lovely and interesting to talk to. I was pleased that she was very happy with the final article I wrote.I nipped out early this morning to print holiday tickets at our local library as soon as it opened (20p a sheet so a total of £4… far cheaper than buying a printer and ink). Feeling excited about our trip to Florida, now that it’s a lot closer. While out, I also bought milk and strawberries and put fuel in the car.Cleaned DS’s school bag and set out his clothes for returning to school tomorrow.Went to swimming pool with OH and DS after work. We had a fun time trying to touch the bottom of the pool and retrieving sunken goggles. Joining the local health club isn’t money saving but it’s been well worth the money so far.Grateful for a mostly sunny day allowing DS to play outside for a bit and drying his washed bedsheets after a wee accident last night, for OH making dinner, and for quality time at the pool with both of them.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸7

Still quite tired this morning (dozy rather than short of sleep) but spent time sorting through some photos. I took some yesterday to show my nieces and I also gave the old camera box they were in to my younger niece so I had a pile of loose photos on the bed. Sorted about half of them, think I'm going to give DS2 most of the ones of him as a child - I gave him and DS3 their own albums with a selection of their photos about 10 years ago. DS1 rips up any photos of himself that he comes across, so he didn't get his.
Ate wake leftovers until I only had lettuce left (I'd packed salad in with my sandwiches and was then given another box that was mainly lettuce). They did yesterday's evening meal, a 3 am snack and today's breakfast and lunch. I've eaten a lot of bread but I did not eat chips, pizza, pies or any cakes and biscuits at the wake (all available).
This afternoon I took the letter I got my brother to sign into the life centre and asked about the complaints procedure. I said that everyone I'd dealt with at the life centre had been very kind and helpful but whoever was making decisions at the other end (they fax everything through for you) was really messing up. The latest letter is still insisting that mine and my brother's signatures are too similar (they're totally different, mine's nearer to mum's and our brother who died had handwriting very similar to mine but we went to the same school and mostly the same teachers, only 2 years apart).
I found several large print books to borrow, I've already returned 2 of the last batch and have nearly finished the third. I came back and did some tidying in the backs. Next door neighbour was complaining about me having things in the backs (some planters and old garden chairs that I'm taking the ripped seats and backs off) but not giving me any credit for all the work I've done keeping the empty house under control and litter-picking, weeding and clearing soil and bricks (next door's wall) from the backs (I've just started to clear soil and stones from the 2 drains). So, I'm no longer trying to do it properly and sort by category, I've just put several rubble sacks and several buckets worth of stones and gravel I'd previously collected on top of the brick and weed heap that is next door's boundary. Last year I cut back all the weeds in there but that's out of the question this year.
Yesterday I was bitten and it's turned a bit nasty (cemetery mossies are the worst). The very dark centre is about an inch across and there's a ring of bright pink swollen flesh around it. When I was gathering up the buckets I'd emptied, one of them caught the bite and took the top off. I've put cream on and covered it with a large plaster (I buy the fabric strips so I can cut to the size I need). I've also brought in nearly all the washing.
Grateful for free food, helpful life centre staff, finding good books, getting things done (DS3 finally did the pizza boxes and he's put the bin that will be collected tomorrow out).6 -

I am worth it.Yes, you definitely are worth it! 🥰Today I am grateful for a slow start to the day, for some time in the sunshine, for two loads of laundry drying outside, for starting and finishing a 1000 piece jigsaw (now got 4 to give away), for DH enjoying his bday (only another 10 and he'll qualify for a free TV licence 🤣).NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!8 -
Ooh what colour sparkles does your new stuck have @beanielou? You definitely deserve it.
Your baguettes sound delicious @Tonisfriend, my mouth is watering!
Glad you're feeling more positive @drcarrie, your date obviously wasn't up to much & you've had a lucky escape!!
Good luck to all the little ones going back to school this week.
@f0xh0les I did read somewhere, that you could use one of the pillowcases to store all the matching quilt set inside, then you don't have to hunt for all the bits later on. Must admit that I've not tried it myself though!

A bit overcast today. Went out & cut some branches off some of our trees, then proceeded to chop them up for more bug hotel infill. Did another 2 chimney liners & 2 more clay pipes. Lots of spare bits, should we need them, or to make a log pile elsewhere in the garden, or to dry out for next year's firewood. Spent 1.5 hours reading whilst waiting for my dinner to cook, then eating it. Emptied compost bins & transferred them into the next bin. Have an empty one now to start filling 😊
Received an email from my American auntie, she understood my reasons for ranting about my dad, totally agreed it's a scam marriage too, & that she's glad there are thousands of miles between them. I don't feel so bad now!
Washed the dishes after tea, then had a long soak in the bath. Finished my book, really enjoyed it. Watched another episode & hooked my rug. @applemuncher it measures 22.5" x 47". It's taking me a while, as I'm cutting each individual strand too, haven't bought precut ones!
Grateful for nature (watching a bee collect pollen from a teasel head for AGES), a man coming to buy some of DS1's books, saying £10 wasn't enough & paying £20 😯, finishing my book so I can choose the next oneUse it up, wear it out
