What I think looks better:I don't expect everybody to agree on my personal opinion, but I find the above far easier on the eyes.

Report button - This has been moved as a number of you mentioned it wasn’t ideal having it close to the Quote button.
Thanks for taking on so many of the comments - the contrast is much better - however with regard to the above is there any way it could be moved right to the far right of the screen as it is still very tight to the 'thanks' button and very easy to mis-hit.Debt Free Wannabe by 1 December 2027

BooJewels said:@10_66 - I was starting to post a reply about those posts showing the right time, as I'd just read that thread on notice accounts - but when I go back to it to check what time I was seeing, those posts were actually made on 15th May - on page 61 of that thread - which is now up to page 70. Did you perhaps follow a notification from the top right bell icon - some of us have already commented that those notifications are taking us back many weeks, as it's including a lot of old posts in error?0

Really is loads better!
Workable with some extras.
That red cross is still irritating. On my tablet and computer it hovers over tabs and the right of where I'm typing.
Also and more importantly, with the reply box reaching from wall to wall I have no spare screen to tap on to get rid of the on screen keyboard.
If I can't shrink the keyboard then I'm trying to scroll to the formatting bar in teeny bits. This takes the cursor with me sometimes so teeny scrolling back to replace where I want the formatting to go then back to featherlight scrolling to the top, use the formatting, teeny scrolling back down to complete the message.
It's as tedious to do as to read that.
Is it possible to have a bit of free screen at the side?
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

MollyR said:10_66 said:As said above, the layout has only been considered for mobile users. If you want lots of empty space on the screen, please make the reading area central for a desktop monitor.
I have to use a desktop, the reading area of the forum is now forced over to the far left side of the screen (to make way for the broad empty band on the right) and means I would now have to keep picking up my monitor and moving it to the right for the reading pane to be central for viewing (not workable to do that umpteen times a day). I could move the monitor permanently - if MSE was the only thing I ever looked at, but if I did that, every other thing I looked at would be out of kilter. I can't move the chair further left due to the rest of set up.
Thank you MollyR. I'm already over 110% and the right third of my screen is taken up with that broad empty space that you get under the Quick Links and News boxes.0 -
MovingForwards said:@vic_sf49 how have you got the dark theme? That's a lot easier on my eyes and how I view other forums via my phone.
We don't need the big red + button.
The report button I've accidentally caught a few times.
Having badges / forumite takes up valuable space.
If I'm lucky I get two posts to read per scroll.
It's Vivaldi Browser app. I tried every browser or browser app I could find, and only this and Firefox* forced the forum into dark browser.
* I had used Firefox for years, with the add on "dark reader", but whether it was my new tablet, or an app update, Firefox was so so so slow to load pages, that I got rid of it.
Vivaldi has dark mode, good zoom options, and I set all my favourite forums on its "speed dial", so I don't need to use mse to navigate.
I set the Vivaldi home page/button to my mse bookmarks page too.1 -
I am happy with the forum now with the following ublock origin tweaks to remove the quick links drop down menu and to widen the page width:forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.css-ryf5vr-titleBarNavStyles-navigation.css-ab4nix-titleBarStyles-nav.headerNavigation

It looks as though MSE have been working hard to resolve the usability issues, at least that's how I see it on my desktop PC.Threads are displayed without so much clutter now. I still feel as though it could be clearer - for example bigger spaces between information such as thread starter, most recent post, date, etc.I don't know if the MSE team are aware, and I don't think I've seen anybody else mention this yet, but the font size in the post comment box is noticeably larger than the font size in the actual thread. Maybe this is deliberate so people can post easier.Another issue is the size of the post comment box. I don't see a handle to adjust the size of the box. Instead the box appears to grow in size as the post grows larger while making the post. I'd rather just a larger box and/or a handle for me to adjust the size.I still don't agree with how all the forums are shown, as a desktop user I feel that there's just too much padding between the boxes. Mobile users might appreciate this padding however.I'm at the point where I can live with the change now and hope that the final tweaks will be enough to appease myself and many other users.1
