If you're going to keep the user info at the top of each post, it needs to be decluttered and timestamp move to the right and on one line.

I'm having to change it everytime I come to MSE
+1 for changing the default. If it could also default to 'followed' rather than 'all' too, that would be much better.
Surely that's something that would be easy for them to change. Alternatively let us set our own defaults.
If you agree, please 'thank' this post, it may get more traction that way? Maybe? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)4 -
I think they're certainly working on a few things behind the scenes. The red notification blob over the bell is now persisting beyond any page change, but I still don't like how it lists those notifications - it lists them in batches, not individual posts, which perhaps isn't quite working as intended.
Say this thread for example, if I saw there were 6 new posts and visited and read them, then later it said there were 2 new posts, if I clicked the notification drop down to see those last 2 posts, in that section, it goes to the previous 6 I've already seen, not to the new unread ones.
I've found it much better to use the 'bookmarked threads' link in the quick links menu - that does at least show if there are 2 new posts, you click on the thread title and it takes you to the first new unread one. But then you have to mark the notification as read, or the red blob now won't go away until you do!
ETA: Case in point, after posting and going elsewhere, it flashed up that there were 6 new posts, so I clicked the link, thinking I'd missed new posts whilst typing and it took me to page 30, to posts from yesterday - and already read.1 -
Im not a fan of this new layout0

I hate the changes.
It's particularly annoying to have to look for the bookmark symbol. It used to be that you could access your bookmarked threads from the top and bottom of the page - now I'm have to search for it lost in stuff I'm not interested in to the right. The colours aren't great either. It looks retro in a bad way.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I really do not like the new forum layout.
Everything was easier to read/scan through when coming on here.
I try to help out on the mortgage boards and it was always far easier to look and scan through the posts to see which I had been on/replied to etc than it is now.
The new layout is too bold everywhere and nothing stands out because everything does.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I've just struggled through '20 pages' (probably only about 6 pages on previous version) looking for positive comments about new format.
I only noticed a couple and think even they might have been same one quoted.
Since there's an overwhelming dislike of the new format is there any reason why MSE can't take note of the comments and revert to the previous version (or better still the version before that) ?
Without any response from MSE, the whole thread becomes utterly pointless.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq511 -
How about a way to click away or opt out of half of the junk. Why am i looking at a chicken when I come on here or crafting. I don't need the distration of MSE news on the right hand side of my screen. I'm dyslexic. I neeed to concentrate on whats in from of me. Many people have poor attention spams, why put more junk. Even the forum, doesn't seem the same.
I can honestly say that I hate the change. There's a lot to be said about keeping things simple. What on earth is wrong with a simple forum, where people can easily find what they are looking for.4
