Well done on hitting nearly 50% equity
My condolences on your friends daughter - always such a shock when people are younger and so hard for the parents to move forward
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thank you. My friend is being supported by her son. X  It's tough.

Thanks for following the financial journey. I never thought I'd own my own home. I might even retire some day.

Congratulations on the almost 50% equity and the splits! It's been years since I could do them, I think it would break me now. The EF will get there at least you've had the cash to pay for all the things you've needed to buy, i call that a win.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, always so hard when someone is young 💔

I just found out that Guinness miscalculated my service charge in 2023. Their mistake, clearly.  But they say I now owe them £4000, to be paid immediately. Just found out this afternoon. I rang them to make sure it wasn't  scam letter.

I can't sell my car because I need it for my second job. I have £3050 in savings (yay me, met the goal this month) and now that's gone.  No holiday or visit to family this year because couldn't afford it. Called charities to take the cats, they wont, and were very sniffy about it, saying I should never have got cats if i couldnt afford them. Credit Card for the remaining £1000 I guess? I don't have time for a third job.

If you don’t have the money to pay it in one amount then I would go back to them and ask if you can pay part of it and then pay the rest of the money in instalments.
Very judgmental of the cat rescue.

No holiday here either as can't afford it so decided to do a few retreats instead.
Sorry about the extra charges 😕 and the cat charity that response really wasn't charitable was it 🫤!

    Thanks for te supportive comments.

It makes a big difference to sleep on things. I woke up realising that this is a perfect example of "lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part".

I'm not touching my emergency fund because this isn't an emergency.

I've lodged a complaint and will get a response within ten days, so we will see whether any new info comes out. But bottom line is I'm willing to pay £50 per month towards it and no more. Next time they should plan better.
