Thanks so much. I'm not sure when the opp will be, only met the consultant this morning and he said he'd have his secretary send out a letter.

But in any event sooner than NHS.

One small example of difference: some manager at NHS must have thought they'd save money by not having me meet consultant before surgery (or ever). The NHS consultant never set eyes on me until i was wheeled in unconscious.

By contrast, as soon as the private consultant met me this morning, he said that particular procedure (the one i had last week) had a higher risk of failure for someone like me because I'm small (so all organs and tubes also small., sorry TMI).

So both excellent surgeons but the first one was disadvantaged by the "efficient" system.

On the plus side my GP practice has been lovely and helpful, getting prescriptions done and sick note sorted.

I'm not sure whether the pain will subside at all before the next surgery. I've decided ill take another duvet day or two and see how I feel.

Re: patient care after op. It's just the lack of joined-up thinking. The ward staff weren't aware of the failed surgery and evidently didn't receive any real notes or explanations from the surgeon, and there was no avenue for them to liaise with him. So they just didnt know what to tell me and they had to get the next person into theatre.

My work insurance has just confirmed that they'll pay for everything needed at the private hospital. I hung up and cried I was so relieved. My pain is better today. I walked to a cafe and got a matcha.

    Thank you.

I've decided to make a side-quest of getting back to fighting fit. The GP said i was okay to exercise, just nothing high impact.

So ater a week of shuffling and watching movies, this morning I did a careful workout. I still have internal bleeding and stent, but I managed about 25 minutes:

    1. 20 bicep curls with weights
    2. 20 weighted squats
    3. 6 sun salutations (a and b)
    4. Pilates "100"
    5. Pilates "criss-cross"
    6. Splits for 30 seconds
    7. Backbend (wheel) for five breaths

Tomorrow I'll try 30 reps with the weights, then a full Pilates routine.
