Thanks guys, I do like the ease of purple parking but it’s £200 ish for when I want compared to £75 ish at the Marriott.
That's a surprisingly big diffterence. Presumably you have to stay at the Marriott to get that rate?

£75 seems to me like a 'too good to be true' rate.

Yes, sounds suspiciously too cheap for 2 weeks. I'd double check that your car remains onsite and isn't move to a field halfway around the M25.

Having just spend quite a lot of time trying to find cheap parking options for Heathrow, it appears that the majority of hotels that offer parking simply front many of the up and coming 'meet and greet' companies that do just that.  The few that do offer on-site parking are considerably more expensive (£200-£300 for 10 days parking).  Somewhat suprising, if you want to avoid your car being put into a muddy field, the cheapest option turned out to be Heathrow's own long stay car park (much cheaper than Purple Parking),

I know this site is all about money saving, but i'm really unsure about handing my keys over to purple parking and letting them do the rest.
For the dates I need, PP is currently around £56, Heathrow long stay is £89.
Going slightly off topic, having never flown from Heathrow before. I'm unsure of what times to put in for arrival and departure of any carpark.
My outbound flight is at 7.05am and I arrive back at 6.30pm. I'm planning to arrive at whatever carpark I choose at around 4am, but what about coming back? how quick is it to get through arrivals? I'm going to norway by the way.

Don't know if they all do it but Holiday Extras do a delayed return policy of up to 24 hours for around £2 extra, well worth it.

Play around with time and put in as late as you are allowed without it increasing the price. Quite often you can go up to 23.59 without it increasing the price as the car parks charge based on days. Most car parks have some kind of grace period to allow for delays etc but it does seem to vary from car park to car park so do check.

No you don’t have to stay and I can only find that rate on the just park website
Have you tried going through to actually book it? I've had issues with Just Park showing a low rate on some car parks but when you try to book it's not available.

I've never had a problem with Purple Parking at Heathrow or Gatwick. Leave car (and keys) at drop off point, they park it in their onsite multi-story and when you get back it is waiting outside of reception for you. No worries about losing your keys or forgetting where you parked and your car never leaves their site which is staffed 24 hours a day.  A few years ago I had to come back from a trip early due to a family emergency and they were very good at making sure my car was available.

What I wouldn't do is trust my car and keys to one of the offsite operators as I'd be dubious about insurance coverage in the event of any problems.

I have posted a link above, I don’t think you have to leave your keys, some of the drive way options do ask for your keys , others dont

Hi. PP is perfectly fine. One of the staff car parks I use is next to PP at LHR and you can see all the cars tightly jammed together. The reason they want your keys is that once you drop it off then they move it to a space that it can’t be moved from unless you move the other cars around it. It’s why they are cheaper as they have less real estate so have to use it more effectively.

In long stay it’s just a normal car park and is never moved as there is plenty of room, hence why you keep your keys.

The times you give are only rough estimates. PP ask for flight numbers so they can monitor it to some extent to get your car ‘out’ for you.

If you’ve checked in online and don’t have any baggage then two hours before is probably too much, however it’s entirely up to you. 4am is plenty.

As for arriving back then it depends to some extent which terminal you are flying from and whether you have baggage. Baggage can add a significant amount of time onto the arrival. But if not and assuming eGate usage then from exiting the plane to waiting for the bus to PP (or whoever) is probably between 15-30 minutes depending on which gate you arrive at.

I used Purple Parking once about ten years ago on the rare occasion I couldn't avoid Heathrow and found their whole system very efficient and convenient, for a decent price. I noticed that the car jockeys were all Nepali, quick and attentive, no doubt expert at tight squeezing vehicles. I surprised them with a "Namaste" on my return.
