This morning my flying consisted of making my bed, loading the DW, hoovering the LR, DR, kitchen and hall, and mopping the kitchen and DR. After that I went to cardio rehab and had my first experience of using a rowing machine! Then DH, Rosie and I went up to the forest to celebrate Rosie's 10th birthday with a light lunch in the cafe (Rosie enjoyed her sausage), a walk in the beautiful shady woods, and ice creams (a doggy one for Rosie, of course). Very relaxing7 -
Waves to Dancemum.
Ask away, ASB - there is a wealth of knowledge and experience of special needs on this forum and do just ask.
Started the day with a most glorious swim in the lake - cuckoo calling, the big dragonflies have hatched and buzzing round like mini helicopters, various water bird chicks around.
Frantic bit of tidying/flying by both but mostly by Mr N while I was adding to the report, before financial advisor trying to unravel the mysteries of my old employment pension. I think I almost understand it now.
One load through WM, hung out and brought in.
Mr N and I went for a walk at a different lake also renowned for dragonflies, saw loads.
Had an email from my manager confirming the extension of my contract for another year without having to interview/write statements about how my company is sustainable /promising I don't use slaves (apart from Mr N the master flyer).
Now just looking through the documents I'm meant to read before tomorrow's conference. Oops. Oh and I need to send an e-birthday card.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
combined a work errand (banking) with various personal errands. Stuff has gone to CS. I made it to the watch stall in the market hall and the strap helpfully gave up the ghost as i was removing it from my wrist for a new battery, so i have a new strap too and a sole trader got a good sale. Whilst he was sorting out the watch i carried on to the haberdashers where I bought cardigan buttons, wool for my next project and big pins with big heads which i won’t lose in my knitting. I gave them an old paper bag from mums sewing box (recently did a repair for her) from when they were on the market. we have an old fashioned market with wooden stalls and canvases. So much flingage. DD doesn’t want the pyrex plate/dish so that’s to go.
All ironing away. southern style chippy tea had (we don’t have gravy, or peas or curry sauce).

Morning all. We're back from our hols.Nice to see ASB and Dancemum back again and condolences to Piggers family.
We are back from our holiday. The morning before we went I tidied through the whole house so that was good to come back to. All the holiday washing was done, dried and put away in four hours.
Up early to walk the dog before it gets too hot. I'm planning a few outside jobs and then an afternoon with friends.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
Good morning all,
Glad you found us, dancemum, and welcome back Jazee.
How long until we see you rowing in the Boat Race, Iona?!
Busy week at work, but a few smiles along the way. Next week will be a different matter, when we will be short staffed again, but I’m not thinking about that just now.
We had a lovely impromptu evening with the NDN’s yesterday. A quick bbq and a drink, then home. Really relaxing and pleasant, sat outside in their beautiful garden, it was a lovely way to start the weekend. DD sent me a couple of pictures from her holiday in Spain, so that was lovely too.I’m not sure what the plan is for today, as this morning we have cloud! We might even have had 10 drops of rain. I am rain dancing again, primarily because the ground really needs it, but also because it will excuse me from going to the allotment. DH is apparently cooking this evening. Which usually means that he has been shopping unnecessarily and then will not know how to actually cook whatever he has bought. For now, I am going to indulge in a second cuppa, because I am sure that Round will have kettle on by now.
Have a lovely day all x8 -
Morning,
Lovely to see you back dancemum and thanks for the info, I will take a look. I did find a checklist and working through it I'm not sure if she would have enough A's and B's to go through to the next stage which is ridiculous as if my dad wasn't there she would have no food, drink or heating as she cannot prepare anything for herself, cannot manage her medication or her insulin and is unable to do her own personal care, I guess that's where it would be referred back to social care rather than nursing though which would not be funded. We'll see.
Yesterday I worked from home so that I could get away to see Mum & Dad who are out of town. Mum was a bit brighter so Dad felt a bit happier. We started the conversation with Mum about going into a home (but not yet) which she said I know but by the time we mention it again she wont remember and may not be so amenable. Dad did tell her that if she's still here in Augustthen she's going into a care home again for 2 weeks. I hope he's not planning a train trip to Spain again
Anyway by the time I got back flying was limited to clearing the aftermath of the tornado in the kitchen following DD's cooking dinner again.
An early night, a wake up at 1am and have been up since 7 so breakfast (eaten outside although not sunny but warm) 2 cuppas, and I'm washed dressed and ready to walk doogie. After that the only thing I want to do is drop my laptop back at work so save me having to carry it on Monday morning and get something for my Dad for tomorrow.
Then I WILL CLEAN THE HOUSE!Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!7 -
Dailies done and errand combined with dog walk.
I'm going to pop to the village book swap in a little while to find something new to read. I read two books this week.
Will do outside jobs later!Spend less now, work less later.6 -
Morning all xx
Two brews were supped earlier. I'm having a coffee now. 10 am. Seems much later....that's because I got up twirly!
Two loads of washing swished and pegged out. Sun has disappeared behind cloud, but rain not forecast until tomorrow afternoon. I've dressed, made my bed, put the rubbish out, put new bin bags in, put out the recycling, and fed the birds.
Another book finished and added to cs pile.
We were short staffed this week and we'll be short staffeder next week. But, like Fayolle, I'm not thinking about it!
Love to all

had my vertical half hour, shut my eyes afterwards and have slept until almost 10:30. Must have needed it.
Have washing to peg out. Cloudy here now, and cooler, thank goodness.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Nothing in the diary today, for a change, so I just have to remember to take Rosie out for her walk. I have S&S'd the kitchen and bathroom; PUPA in my bedroom and the LR; dealt with an orchid which has finally begun to drop its blooms at least 3 months after it started flowering (I now have another one sending up a flower bud) and replaced it on the mantlepiece with the orange roses DH bought me last weekend, which I had thought wouldn't live past Monday because of the heat; and sorted some more paperwork.
I should also like to phone a friend, re-pot the sunflowers, plant out some of the French beans to fill a couple of big gaps in the borders now that the forget-me-nots and green alkanet have gone, and find a book to send to DGS1 for his 15th birthday. If I have time and energy, I might even start on the next set of family history papers (very little progress recently on this front). Reality is that I shall taken an extended siesta this afternoon, now that it's cooler and sleep is possible (I had a dreadful night).
But first, elevenses! Anyone care to join me in a cuppa?
Hope you all have a good weekend xxx7
