Oh well done you for seeing this through and getting what was owed. I assume you will be extracting said credit and then applying to switch supplier at the earlier possible point!

Definitely. I can't find a "gimme my money" option online, and I'm deliberating whether to ask for it, and then wait to get it before I transfer elsewhere is a better option that just transferring elsewhere and getting the credit back via the final bill. Not sure which will be quickest.

Quick Update
- I've escaped EDF. My Gas has now been switched to Fuse (i've been with Octopus for Electricity for a few years) with a nice £100 referral bonus and a cheaper fix than the SVT I was on with EDF (I refused to fix with EDF as i knew I'd jump as soon as the issue was resolved). I've had my final bill from EDF, and the residual credit I have with them should be in my bank account in the next week.
- Rather surprisingly (to myself) I got into a bit of a crusade mode and kept pushing my local MP about the ineffectiveness (trending towards downright incompetency) of the Energy Ombudsman. I got this response this week (excerpt from the whole email):
However, I share your concern that this outcome was only achieved after you were forced to issue a Letter Before Action and indicate your intention to pursue the matter through the courts. As you have highlighted, the evidence and arguments which ultimately resulted in EDF settling your claim were substantially the same as those you had previously presented throughout the Energy Ombudsman process.
I am also concerned by the wider issues your case raises regarding the handling of evidence, the clarity and enforcement of Ombudsman decisions, and consumer confidence in the dispute resolution process.
In light of the concerns you have raised, I have now written to Michael Shanks MP, Minister of State at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. While Ministers cannot intervene in individual Ombudsman decisions, I have asked him to consider whether your experience highlights broader issues regarding the operation and oversight of the Energy Ombudsman scheme, including the assessment of evidence, the handling of disputed factual assumptions, and the enforceability of Ombudsman remedies.
I have also highlighted your concern that a less determined consumer may simply have accepted the Ombudsman's conclusions and suffered a financial loss, rather than pursuing the matter further through legal channels.
That's as far as I can (or will) take it, but hopefully someone at the Energy Ombudsman will get a call asking them to explain themselves.
