Gas Meter Still Increasing Whilst Gas Isolated (Siemens/Landis+Gyr E6S)

I'm sure I could have had it resolved sooner had I gone legal sooner, but I refused to let it take over my life so only picked it up as and when real life allowed.

It shows that the Ombudsman is a waste of time and energy companies take absolutely no notice.

All the Ombudsmen and regulators are a waste of time apart from the Drinking Water Inspectorate.

Great news.
Just wait until the credit actually hits your account, before popping 🍾
😉
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)1 -
The goodwill credit has hit my account. I've been told the refund will appear on my next bill, as its effectively a rebill and not a credit. That bill us due within the next week, so nearly there. But, if anyone can find a way to make a another mistake, EDF can. I'm half-expecting a 100+ page bill containing a full re-bill dating back to November 2021.

Will you be asking for your account credit balance to be paid out into your bank account? Will they oblige 🤔

I'm still deliberating whether to do this first, and then move to another supplier, or just do it as part of the move and final bill. I suspect the former may slow down any move to another supplier.

You effectively have done the best test, the creep test, isolate usage, and see if it continues rising, all other tests I think are tougher to use as evidence. The only evidence a supplier will treat with high confidence is the meter test itself, its a no brainer to let them test it given your current evidence. Take the offer whilst its there as they may change their mind, no kidding.

It's not ideal, but its the system we have, I agree on the video recording, but he says he has already done that,
When I moved in to my current home, I had a off site test done on gas meter, and whilst I dont remember been given confirmation, I was never charged for the test, I was reimbursed the bills, and new meter gave much lower readings for similar usage. So the off site test is the way to to go if it is being offered.
Many years later when it was noticed very high readings from my old electric meter, supplier refused to do a test, so I took the plunge to just replace with it with a smart meter, there was logic to this decision in two ways.1 - every extra day on the broken meter was a higher bill due to higher readings. Consider this could go on for many months or even years, the benefit was obvious.
2 - the new meter would help decide if the old meter was faulty, as readings could be compared, as it turned out not only were they considerably lower, they also became consistent, my usage is consistent day to day, yet the old meter had wild swings from one day to the next.
This eventually led to a large refund from the supplier.
I think the worst thing to do is just leave an old broken meter in place with both no official testing and no replacement.0 -
The agreed credit (plus the additional goodwill gesture agreed) have both now hit my account. Totalling it all up, it resulted in over £1800 re-billing credit plus £350 in various goodwill gestures over the last 2 1/2 years. Certainly worth fighting for.
