Out of interest, does your balance show >£50k? Just thinking outside the box....PloughmansLunch said:It took maybe 8-9 working days to open. Passbook arrived in the post last week, my deposit cheque has been cashed and I have a temporary password, but I’m waiting for the letter with my user ID to arrive. I’m also waiting for a credit to another account as I accidentally over-funded it, and Hanley customer services said any payment that takes it over the maximum should be bounced back.:grouphug:

It does show that to the Hanley CS people I speak to (and has done since early June) but I’ve not received any of the user ID requests I’ve made so can’t check myself. Their finance dept were meant to call me last week to explain so I’ll have to make a complaint tomorrow if it’s not sorted.karlie88 said:

Just to add to the misery outlined - I was lucky enough to open a Branch Saver at the beginning of June......but like so many others, still waiting to be able to access ac online. Got everything except the user ID and have spoken to them via web chat 3 times now. I appreciate they are finding difficulty in coping with the interest shown in this account but this is not acceptable. In my latest conversation with them last week, they confirmed it was sent by post on 21st June.....still waiting!. I note that from their correspondence that if the ac is not funded within ten business days of receiving the letter etc, the account will be closed! I am reluctant to make a deposit until I can confirm on line that it has been credited. I just hope they are as inefficient with this closure threat as they are with anything else.

My account was eventually opened at the start of last week but at this stage I'm not bothered about online viewing. I'll request that at a later date.0

I don't see the big deal with it. If it was fully functioning online servicing, fair enough, but at 5% interest instant access it's not going to be my first port of call for funds anyway.0

Didn't you send a cheque for the minimum opening balance alongside your application form ? My passbook arrived with that amount credited.pistonbroke1 said:Just to add to the misery outlined - I was lucky enough to open a Branch Saver at the beginning of June......but like so many others, still waiting to be able to access ac online. Please return your completed and signed application form together with your cheque for your initial investment. Your cheque should be made payable to: ‘Hanley Economic Building Society/Your Name’. Please post all together to ‘FREEPOST HEBS’. That’s all we need to open your account today

If they get any slower their 5% rate will have been overtaken by Chip and similar before the account is even open!0

I'm all sorted now - they said FP undertaken yesterday lunchtime, and they actually paid by CHAPS just before the end of the day. Now to leave well alone!0

I would check that they don't charge you, as there can often be a fee for a CHAPS payment (particularly as it was initially your mistake and not theirs)PloughmansLunch said:I'm all sorted now - they said FP undertaken yesterday lunchtime, and they actually paid by CHAPS just before the end of the day.
