I had an email saying the account was open and my welcome pack was in the post.  A separate email with my password for online banking.  They said the User ID would be sent in the post.
However the welcome pack arrived with no sign of the User ID.  Waited several days and then tried several times to  register online to have one sent to me.  Came back with an error each time saying I should ring them.
What is the point?  Has anyone on here successfully got their User ID

     Still waiting for mine.

I recently contacted them about the issues of withdrawing, if they've got such a backlog how could they guarantee a quick processing for a request, and was assured that they've now dealt with that and business is back to normal - whatever that might mean  :#

Back to normal must mean waiting at least a week or more for a withdrawal, I still haven't had my escalated managerial-level request paid to me. Still no sign of a user ID in the post either.

Good grief, it really is not good enough.  It really does not instil confidence if you haven't even had your money returned that they said should've been bounced back anyway.

Just spoken to Hanley about User IDs.

Temporary passwords were sent to some people in error.

The system is that registration must be done on line or by phone. Only then will you receive a temporary password (by email) followed by a User ID by post.

Just received my temporary password. User ID letter, I'm told, has been posted.

    Let's see £50K paying 1% more than somewhere local = an extra £500pa or £41 a month.
Would it be worth jumping in the car and driving to the nearest branch ? I'm in Essex......where is the nearest branch ?

Looks like it's around 150 miles......6 gallons of fuel @ £1.41 a litre = £38.46 for a round trip and the best part of 6 hours travelling time. That's got to be worth doing !

6 gallons is about 27 litres, that might change your view

Either way, you can't open it now as it's no longer available

Yes, I missed a number off my post....corrected now.
Factoring in travel costs of £38.46 reduces the annual return to 4.92%.....still worth it......we're it still available.

Has anyone actually received an online banking id, or is everyone's still "in the post"? My wife and I reach registered for ours a week or so ago.

I was told that online access is view only because the systems cannot cope with the 1 withdrawal per month penalty system, but that they were looking at getting that sorted with full online access, perhaps by the end of the year. That would make this account a bargain!

Took about 10 days to get the ID letter, after applying for online access. Was about to ring up and enquire where it was, but checked the post box first, and there it was!
I have used online view to confirm my BACS transfer had been received, which was handy. But as you say, if it is made true online access this year, that would be great.

Thanks to the previous poster for highlighting that the initial temporary password emails were sent in error, otherwise I'd have been waiting for an online ID letter that would never arrive !

I received my welcome pack today (4 days after the email) and have just registered for online banking via the website, so will await the online ID letter.
