Has anyone successfully paid in with faster payments? I'm getting an account and name mismatch. My understanding is the sort code is 309383, and the account number and reference are both the number of my Hanley branch saver account. I've tried naming it as mine, as HEBS, and as Hanley Economic Building Society. All rejected.

I can't go into online banking at hanley to check as it's down currently!
Yes, I've paid into my Branch Saver using BACs. I'm not sure where you got that paying-in info from but none of it is right, unfortunately !

You need to use the Hanley's sort code and account number, with your own account number as the reference. (IIRC, I used my own name*, not the Hanley BS or Lloyds)

    * edit - that's wrong. I just checked and I did actually use 'Hanley Economic Building Society' as the payee name.

From page 8 of the general T&Cs... https://thehanley.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Savings-TC-Website.pdf

    Electronic Payments into your account:

7.7 If money is to be paid into your account by Electronic Payment, you or the payer sending the payment to you, will need to provide the unique identifier. This includes the following information, for the following types of payment:

    • for BACS, Faster Payments and Standing Orders: Lloyds Plc, Sort Code: 30-01-20; Account Number: 09995102;
    • for CHAPS payments: Lloyds Plc, Sort Code: 30-93-83; Account Number: 00005102; and
    • for all types of Electronic Payment, your Reference: this is your 7 or 8 digit Hanley Economic Building Society account number. You must quote this as a reference to ensure the payment reaches the account.

Also - just be aware that payments in usually show up the next working day and can even take up to 2 working days if made in the evening, in my experience.

Yes, paid in in June this way, and credited same day.
Just tried logging in like everyone else it isn't loading.

Thanks everyone, I got those details from their app when clicking on my account documentation in the app. I'll check again tomorrow

The app is back up. It definitely told me to use those details on the welcome letter in my electronic document store. Same for anyone else?

I don' know what's in an app as I don't use them, but that sort code is their CHAPS sortcode.

I can no longer transfer from the Instant Access Saver to the Branch Saver account.

"you cannot internally transfer funds to the Branch Saver via online banking. The branch saver is only branch and postal operated and cannot complete the internal transfer online".

    Could you do it before?

And for me, the more important question is can you still transfer from Branch Saver to Instant Access?

    "502 Bad Gateway"
Yes, it appears online banking is down at the moment and it's Branch Saver interest payment day, too !

It was fine when I logged in this morning - interest hadn't been added though, so I was thinking that would probably show up by tomorrow.
    Interest is now credited

And whether you can still pay in via faster payments or Bacs! Not that dissimilar to funding via an internal transfer... And making it harder to top-up before the deadline

I have never been able to transfer from my Branch Saver to my Instant Access account. How did you manage this?
    God save the King!
I'll save Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, J. M. W. Turner and Alan Turing.
