NST June 2023 Flotsam and Jetsam

Thank you for Flotsam and Jetsam, grandmanerd - it is a fab challenge. This is a busy month for me. But I can already tick the box for opportunities for making money: normal job; 2nd job; 3rd job + 2 fairs.I have a 3-week focus on getting my marking done (job 2) before going to Brum to say final goodbyes to mum before hitting Manchester for the next phase of marking. As well as job 3: invigilating. As well as my teaching job...(job 1)At the start of each month, I note down the salient points from the challenges and write out the numbers for the dates, filling them up in different colours for the 3 of us. I also like to have some numbers such as x days at work/x days not at work, commitments, dc's activities...I shall aim to get some exercise in daily as it really helps me to cope - and to do it first thing. It just sets me up aright for the day.Today I am grateful for all the work big sis is doing in preparation for mum's funeral, for dc going on a sleepover (such a rare occasion!), for dh's eye being almost normal (or rather, not too abnormal...), for nabbing a liddle f+v box (rare as hen's teeth these days), for a neighbour spotting that we'd left our car key in the car door and popping it through our letterbox for us.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!9

Happy June everyone, & welcome to all the new turtles 😃
Thank you for this month's thread @grandmanerd, please count me in (& could I be #18?)
Felt quite stressed on wakening, dreading work today. Did some yoga before breakfast. DH still not well, sure it's been 3 weeks now! So I put the bins out & hung out the washing before I left.
Most of the class out on a trip, so myself, the relief teacher & the 5 pupils remaining, went a walk to the library & playpark. The teacher treated us all to an ice cream too 😋 the sun was shining, I bounced on the trampoline & chased children. Lots of laughter. The only thing that spoiled it was the way my pupil spoke to me on the way back. The lack of respect is really getting to me now 😔.
Had a different pupil in the afternoon, spent s little time colouring, in between other jobs. Then had a laugh after school, chatting with my work besties OH's children.
Cooked tea, did a bit of cleaning, advised a customer re:a new zip for his tent, then washed the dishes whilst watching yootoob. Did a sewing job, put the washing on the airer & then a soak in the bath. Phew, glad it's Friday tomorrow!
Grateful for fun in the sun, children's laughter, managing to get a sewing job fitted in between all the extra things DH normally does, watching yootoob as haven't managed it for months!Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Friday 2nd June 2023
Welcome to the weekend
For me it will be Frog Friday (not a lot got done last month, so there are still some around - the elephants worry me). Does everyone understand frogs and elephants?
Friday check in
What can I celebrate this week?
What did I learn?
What brought me joy?
How am I feeling?
How can I take great care of myself this weekend?
What are my intentions for next week?
As always these extra bits are optional - if any of it is useful, take it and use it, if it just feels like more work, ignore it.
When you see something beautiful in someone, tell them. It may take a second to say but for them it may last a lifetime.
Few people understand the
Real essence of happiness.
It's not something you can
Demand from life but the
Ability to find the good in what
You already have
(OurMindfulLife.com)
Just do it
Start now
not tomorrow
not when the weather is right
not when you're inspired
not when you get your lover back
not when the vacation is over
not when the horoscope is perfect
not when the psychic says
not when you have the money
not when there are more people to hear what you have to say
Start right now

Day one completed. Getting downstairs was okay, I did some of the obvious things (I'd stuffed a lot of rubbish in some small bags, so I took them out to the bins along with another sack gifted from the midnight pixies). I managed to walk to the end of the backs to collect the emptied bin and did it again later. I may manage to go as far as the library today (we share a car park).
Took things out of the TD and WM and did a fresh load of laundry. All meals used stuff we had in (not actual cooking yet). Apples and celery were munched enthusiastically. At about 6 pm me ankle started to ache (edging into pain) so I packed up my bag, including drinks and a yoghurt for breakfast, and came back upstairs. Checked my new delivery of prescription pills - one pill missing. I need to phone the pharmacy today, I think the error is with the doctor's surgery (I need to teach someone to count as I have been sent enough pills for 28/ 42/ 56 and 60 days and if the missing one had arrived, only 37 days worth had been put on the prescription.
Grateful for ordering pills in good time (I have enough of the pills to deal with the problem calmly not a frantic emergency order to get through the weekend), a video from DS2 showing grand-daughter walking holding onto her walker (last week I had the crawling video and her pulling herself upright using the sofa), knowing what I want to get done but being satisfied with whatever I achieve not fretting over the mountain of tasks.10 -

Love the Friday Focus, Grandmanerd.
Up really early again today and out for a walk before 8.00am. Bigger Tesco. Three miles. Legs are officially aching but no pain no gain (as they say!) No Italian specials on display but Himself couldn't resist the Polish chocolate!
Planning wise I've been delving in the freezer. Regular Turtles will know this is an almost weekly chore here to ascertain what Himself has sneaked in. He absolutely cannot bear to throw away food no matter how miniscule. So it's all tidy and I have a meal plan for next week. A bit of cooking this weekend to make things easier later on. Tonight we're having schnitzel and potato salad. I wish I was having it in Vienna but maybe next year (fingers crossed).
It's been a beautiful day again. The Boy is popping in later on his way back to GF's house. I'm starting a new book and all is well.
Have a lovely weekend. xxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9 -
Thanks for the challenge @grandmanerd - hope it is ok for me to join in again. I post intermittently but always read and cheer everyone along. I have been at work today, came home and made a chilli |(enough for another dinner for both of us as well), which used up lots of bendy vegetables. OH chopped the rest of the bendy veg and I froze them. I have also washed up and cleared the kitchen worktops, sorted a load of washing to put on in the morning, and watered the seedlings in my mini greenhouse, though I postponed the rest of the watering till tomorrow.Decluttering has been going well. I have sold lots of stuff on FB that was taking up space in the garage, mainly unused garden items, also listed some clothes that I no longer wear on ebay, and earmarked others for the CS, though they haven't got there yet. Maybe tomorrow, as I will have 9 y o GD with me while her mum takes her little brother swimming. Poor GD broke her arm a few weeks ago, and although she has now had the wires and plaster removed, she won't be allowed back in the pool for at least another week. She will probably want to go charity shopping by way of consolation for missing out, so I can take the clothes to be donated with me then.I have gardening tasks to do at the weekend alongside the household ones. The watering of course - it is very dry here, intermittently sunny and pleasant, but at other times there is a nasty cold, drying wind. No rain here for what seems like ages. I also need to find homes for the rest of the bedding plant seedlings. I have marigolds and mesembrayanthemums (I bet I have spelled that wrong!) to put into gaps in pots and troughs. I suspect I will have some to give away as well. I also need to do some weeding and tidying. I would love a huge garden again, but realistically my small jungle is enough for me these days.I also need to urgently sort out the freezer. I took some things out of it yesterday, and somehow it seems fuller than before if that makes sense, even though there is less in thereI would also like to finalise my spending spreadsheet for May.It would be great the get all that done, but ok if I just manage some of it. Thanks for the reminder @grandmanerd that it is ok to make a start and do some of a task, even if we can't manage all of it at once8

Today has been mostly about getting my exercise done first thing and then cracking on with marking. But I am just sooooo easily distracted, which does result in some needlefelting being completed, and keeps me sane, so I'm not complaining. And I have made it to 51/200, so m feeling quite smugToday I am grateful for dc having a fun time at the sleepover and not being wrecked by it, for doing my morning exercise in the garden (it was belly down burpees, grandmanerd!), for having the opportunity to earn some extra money, for fresh bed linen, for dc not really liking the gf doughnut, so I got to eat it!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!8
