OOOPs, my mistake. I thought the OP was talking about fitting comments into the N180 form.Coupon-mad said:
Eek no the poster is talking about their DEFENCE!Fruitcake said:You can fit the necessary comment into the online box by creating a Text Box using 9pt font, then pasting into the form.
Sending documents to the CCBC by post runs the very real risk of it getting lost.
@ParkingScum:
I know bargepole says post it but whilst the rest - telling you about court procedures and the various stages - is very useful, that thread is an OLD POST by comparison.
Whereas the template defence was re-written/edited just last week!
Please just read the Template Defence thread...I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Nothing. But in skim reading threads I must have missed where you said email. While I’m on this subject whats wrong with using the website? I know it says the format is not as good but are judges not used to reading defences uploaded to the website in the websites bad format? Is there a chance it won’t be attached to my file on email?KeithP said:What exactly is wrong with the tried and tested method of filing a Defence by email as described in the opening post of the Template Defence thread?
@Coupon-mad your pre written defence is great I’ve copied it into a word document ready to edit. Please don’t get shirty with me people I’m juggling a lot of things at the minute and doing most of this from my phone when i get time.0 -
Ahh the defence won’t fit on the website will it.0

Correct! And what the box would take would be badly formatted.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

@ParkingScum, as you are having some trouble understanding what is required of you without completely ballsing this up, I will try and assist. However, by admitting that you are just "skim-reading" the advice, you are setting yourself up for a very expensive mistake.
When you have completed your defence statement (in MS Word), you should save it as a PDF file. You will then need to attach this PDF file to an email that you will send to the court no later than 4 pm on the deadline date you have been advised. The email address is ccbcaq@justice.gov.uk.
Do not go anywhere near the defence box in your MCOL. Typing in even a simple full stop will mean that that will be your entire defence.
So, in order to try and save yourself a lot of grief, slow down and thoroughly read all the advice, especially the Newbies/FAQ thread. Save your defence as a PDF file and attach it to an email that you send to the email address above before the deadline as advised.2 -
Will a judge read all of that defence or will they skim read the first few paragraphs then throw in the pile? Also do they mind numerous very similar defences all arriving by email. Will they accuse me of copying and pasting?0
-
What "pile" would that be? Whether the judge reads the defence in detail... who knows. They will also have to read the WS of both the claimant and the defendant. Judges are human and some are good at their job and others maybe not quite so.ParkingScum said:Will a judge read all of that defence or will they skim read the first few paragraphs then throw in the pile? Whether they "mind" having to go through numerous, similar defences arriving by email is irrelevant. It is their job.
Why do you think copying and pasting is something to be "accused" of?1 -

That defence not only wins (and gives you all the points you need) but it also tells Judges about the DLUHC's analysis of the real cost of 'debt recovery' chasers.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Just wandering thats all. I personally enjoyed reading the defence theres a lot of good info in it theres not much more I need to add. I just wouldn’t enjoy reading them for a living! Anyway thank you everyone I shall crack on and let you know of any updates.0

If you are concerned about whether or not you have actually submitted a defence via the "defence box" just look at your status on MCOL, it should give you a timeline such as: -
claim issued on dd/mm/yy
AoS submitted on dd/mm/yy
AoS received on dd/mm/yy
What you DONT want to see is: -
defence received on ..........
At least not until you have actually sent it by e-mail.2
