Why high electricty usage

This discussion re dishwashers is all very interesting but doesn't help the OP who is looking for why April consumption was so high,

OP can you update with the last few weeks kWh please ?

The last update on use from the OP was that's back to normal, if it was just the fridge getting in a defrost loop it could be years before it happens again.

The usage for last 7 days was 45Kwh (avarage 6.4 Kwh per day)

The usage for last 14 days was 97Kwh (avarage 6.9Kwh per day)

The usage for last 21 days was 147Kwh (avarage 7Kwh per day )

As markin said, everything is back to normal. So I suspect it was something unusual ( e.g. refrigerator in defrost loop)  that caused the high energy usage.

Reminds me of a notice someone put up at work saying 'please don't leave the bowel in the sink'. Urgh!

No, just wave them under the tap IF there's a lot on them.

The machine's quite capable of doing it all on a full cycle, its just overkill in the majority of cases.

I've not broken it down to the price of the water and soap, but even if I only valued my time at minimum wage (and I don't) half an hour to properly clean and dry a full dishwasher's worth of dishware is over a fiver.

If I only had myself to clean up after I might feel differently about it.
