Hello,
I just did my monthly meter readings and found that my electricty usage has almost doubled !!!
I don't know why it has doubled as my usage hasn't changed.
Is there anyway to check if anything is using up more electricty than it should or check the electricty meter is accurate ?

Doubled from what to what? How much per day is the extra usage then we might be able to identify what it could be.0

Check you don’t have the water heater left on.1

All heating is gas so it would not effect my electrity readings
My electricy usage last month was 232 kwh and this month was 457 kwh
Note: My highest electrity usage last year was in December which was 279 kwh0 -
Are those your reads, smart reads, or estimates?StarTrekkie007 said:All heating is gas so it would not effect my electrity readings

OK so that is 7.5 kwh a day extra, that is a lot.
Can you do daily readings to see if you are still using 15 kwh a day?1 -
Occam’s Razor - follow the advice above. You can ask your supplier for an independent meter check. A calibrated meter will be fitted alongside your existing electricity meter. The supplier will raise a charge if no fault is found. How likely is it that your meter is faulty: from a recent Government report:StarTrekkie007 said:Hello,

Do the Meter Sanity Test.Make sure the meter serial number is the same as that shown on the bill. You might even be paying for someone else's usage...

If you have a hot water tank they usually have an electric immersion heater back up, that is the most common problem, often kids, or people that don't know what the switch even is.
Then it is blocked pond pumps, sump pumps, broken freezers.
You can run tests on the meter yourself first by running a kettle with everything else unplugged and counting the flashes.3 -
And check your meter each day and see if it really is using 15 kwh a day.1
