Pipex ISP Recommendation

That's really due to BT and when they get around to 'upgrading' your exchange. However, I feel Pipex should be charging a lower amount while you are waiting.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

But Nildram & Pipex are the same company.... the difference is that Nildram answer emails and the phone - Pipex seem loathed to do so.There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -

And Nildram now cap there services to the max. Yup, Nildram and Pipex network is almost the same, hence the reason why I didnt really want to goto another 'network'. Nildram have been 100% for me over 4yrs, never had one drop. Those stats speak for themselves.0 -
I've just signed up to migrate from Pipex to Freedom2surf, after being fed up of paying £23.44 for 512kbs service, with a promised upgrade an apparent myth, when F2S offer a 2mb 100gb/month service for £24.99.
Well worth the extra £1.55, with no activation fee, monthly contract, and good reviews of their service reported too.
I have had 3 years of good connections, but Pipex are just miles away from reality with thier competitiveness and customer service.
Adios Pipex, "I wont be back" (unless the price is right!)0 -
crankup wrote:I've been with Pipex for 3 yr now. Yep, agree with the frustration of waiting for an upgrade to 1Mb. However, Pipex offer some nice extras which I make use of. Their newsfeed account with Giganews cannot be beaten by any other ISP. No annoying limits on surfing either.
I'd also consider Plusnet too if I was starting out. They offer some good extras if you wanna host a website.
Ummm...their newgroups are now capped to 10gb a month, also, they *forgot* to tell a lot of customers about the usage and the fact to connect to the newsgroups you needed to enter your username and password (never had to do that previously)
Now ok, 10gb is quite a lot, however find the right groups and that can be eaten away in a matter of days

It's out of Pipex's hands when the upgrades occur, unless a fee is paid. Otherwise it is when BT can be bothered to do your exchange.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

Dont go to f2surf, it's cheaper for an unlimited service with plusnet! Free migration, etc. 21.99 per month - good reviews on the adslguide site.
Let me know if you go, as they also do referrers.....
I have only just gone thru the transfer process from pipex. I regretted moving, but the change speaks for itself. 2Mbit for less, 30:1 contention ratio (rather than 50:1), support seems good, better info on connections from the website, monthly contract, and a few other things I cant think of at the moment.
I can help you with transferring email accounts across if you pm me.
