Just for your info. Recentley changed from Nildram to Pipex. If anyone is looking for a new ISP i'd seriously look into Pipex.
I've signed up for the 1MB home service and i'm more than happy.

Good if your a new customer ....for 3 months anyway, crap customer service, treat exisiting customers very poorly and not giving a change over to 1mbps straight away to old customers. Most annoying bit is, if I joined today with them I'd get the first 3 months at 1mbps for £14.99, instead I have 512kbps and pay £23.44.
As I said crap customer services, don't respond to emails, don't reply on the days they say they will.... been waiting for them to contact me since Monday...said they would on Friday..three days after the email I sent them.....
I'd reccommend AOL before them and that's saying something!!!Welcome, rogerramjet.

Yes really really poor customer service from Pipex. Take weeks to reply to emails. But this seems to be par for the course with most companies nowadays...0

oh dear, sounds like rogerramjet has lost his/her dodie. :rotfl:
As with any company now you will find that customer service is not a high priority. We can be assured that this will only get worse. More and more companies are using 'eastern' call-centres to allow for cheaper services.
I never send emails if I want to contact a company, they can just ignore it too easily. Phone them and dont go away until you get some sort of answer.
I must say you must be the minority........take a pop over to ADSL Guide and look at the 'performance' scores, if Pipex are bad I hate to think what all the others are like.
AOL, poor u! hehehehe :rotfl:0 -
I've been with Pipex for 3 yr now. Yep, agree with the frustration of waiting for an upgrade to 1Mb. However, Pipex offer some nice extras which I make use of. Their newsfeed account with Giganews cannot be beaten by any other ISP. No annoying limits on surfing either.
I'd also consider Plusnet too if I was starting out. They offer some good extras if you wanna host a website.*************************

I left Pipex after 2 and a half years with them..no real problems with them except the price! I was paying £33.99 for 2mb...moved to Plusnet @ £21.99 for 2mb unlimited, unlimited email addresses too and a 250 mb website(50mb with Pipex).0

You should be happy - it looks like they have given you a 2M connection by mistake !T4i wrote:

The way it seems to be working is that BT are putting in the fastest ADSL connection your exchange will take, in most cases 2Mb. They then inform the ISP (in this case PIPEX) who then throttle the connection down to the speed you are paying for. However, there's normally a gap of a couple of days for the line being activated and BT informing the ISP so you often get a higher speed for a few days.
WHen I got my upgrade from 512Kb to 1Mb (I paid the £15) I got a 2Mb connection for a few days, before Pipex throttled it down to 1Mb. My line is synched at 2Mb but throttled down to 1Mb.
I've been with Pipex for 18 months with no problems. Cannot comment about the customer service as I've never needed to contact them.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

That's not 100% correct. I've contacted Zen customer services a couple of times and found them fantastic. Check their ratings. They score very highly against all the companies I've compared them with. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I've been with Pipex for over 3 years and have never had any contact with their customer services department for the simple reason that their broadband service has been so good, I haven't needed to!This space has been intentionally left blank0
