Use the MSE comparison tool https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheap-mobile-finder/sim-only-filters/

EE are generally expensive so wouldn't advise switching to them
I've seen a few posts recommending RWG, but they were not mentioned in your link.
Is there some downside to RWG such that they are not used for an MSE comparison?

Plusnet used the EE network, so it is no surprise that is who they recommend, so you will get the same coverage.

There are other providers that use the EE network, depending on your needs, I am now using 1p mobile and happy with them.  RWG is another that often gets recommended here, but they don't yet offer wifi calling, if that is important to you (1p mobile do)

If you don't need EE coverage then there are loads more providers to choose from if the other providers give the coverasge tht you need.
I don't make much use of my phone, and have only had it for about 3 years.
In terms of coverage, there were a couple of times when I couldn't get an internet connection.
So it would seem sensible to stay with EE coverage (and not jump out of the frying pan into the fire).
So RWG piggy-back on EE but don't seem to have any downside except not having wifi calling (is there any situations in which I would need this?).
Where would I find out which other providers piggy-back on EE?

RWG have recently added 5G.  They say that wifi calling is coming soon.

They do a great offer for a two year contract at £35 - fairly limied calls, texts and data.  But perfect for my spare phone which I carry in my walking rucksack.

As far as I'm aware, there is no app for checking credit balance etc - you have to text a number.

Just checked PN forums - nobody has posted re such an email?
I originally missed it, as it was in the spam folder.
Here is more from the email:
    =======
Since the 29th March 2023, we no longer offer mobile services to new customers.
As an existing customer, your Plusnet plan will continue for now, so don’t worry about loss of service.
We will be closing all our mobile services in the coming months. This means you’ll need to switch your service to another provider in the future.
    Make the move today

We want to make sure you still get great value, flexible mobile plans. As Plusnet is part of the BT and EE family, we’ve joined forces with EE to create a range of SIM only deals available exclusively to Plusnet mobile customers.
Bringing you the great value of Plusnet, but with the performance of EE, the UK’s best network.
If you’d like to talk to us about your options or the EE offers available, then please give us a call.
    Call 0800 079 1133

    What next
You are free to switch to EE or another service
provider today. Otherwise, we’ll be in touch again in
plenty of time before we close our services.
    ===========
Could the email have been sent to only some customers, depending on their profile?

I will have to check on EU data roaming as Plusnet still include that but I think post-Brexit many are now charging again.

I chose 1p mobile over RWG (I actually have both the the RWG is for a leisure phone not normal use) because of the wifi calling, where I live the actual mobile signal is very poor so most of my calls at home are on wifi calling.

1pmobile have a really good website that lets you see usage, top up etc. whereas RWG it's all done by texting codes to top up or see usage.

Both are a good cheap service and it's good we have a choice.

I'd vote for 1pMobile any day having experienced RWG - their heart's in the right place (RWG) but look at 1pMobile's website - it's a joy to behold! Read the review of 1p on the simsherpa website https://www.simsherpa.com/networks/1p-mobile/review-and-guide

Agreed.  It's simple quick and clear and has all you want with no fuss.

If I was looking for someone to make me a website I would be very keen to find out who did this one.

Search me! Maybe it's because their offers have changed or just aren't sexy enough. But their standard 5p/5p/1p rates with no regular topup are the cheapest deal for very light (200 mins pa) users on the market, and they have a range of good packages. I have been with them since last August as my main sim and have lyca and lebara cheap deals for extra data and calls where I don't need to give out my normal number.
The good news is you can try them for a month for £2.
Depending on your usage needs nowmobile packages could be worth a look too.
