We are under the flight path into Stanstead. They come over us about 1500 feet, the 777s and A380s can be quite loud! But I love planes, so one of the things I will miss as we are leaving this house in about 6 weeks, will be the planes! TBH the helimed and police helicopters that come out of North Weald are more noisy and disruptive, because they tend to hover around rather than just pass through.

It's absolutely a no-no for some, but not for others. Totally subjective. The fact you're asking, makes me think it's not for you. As if it was me, I'd be excited!

was told 2 offers on the table in the last week…🙈
If you want the house bad enough go for it

If you don't want the noise don't listen for it

You can listen for the noise and you will hear it, if you don't listen you might not
I don't know about planes but that didn't  work with me on a main road and cars. Drove me insane. And I couldn't open the windows.
When I was house hunting with my ex about 20 years ago we went to see a house that was fairly close to the M1.  The EA forgot to tell us about that  :D. The house was lovely and a good price but the motorway noise was non stop.  The EA pointed out that you couldn’t hear it much inside.  Who wants to never go into their garden?

When they asked us what we thought I said “lovely house, dreadful location”.  We bought a detached bungalow with a beautiful garden, easy to get to work.  it made my day when the following spring bright red tulips popped up, I counted about a hundred  :)

Personally every house I have bought has had some degree of compromise, I guess that is what I get from maxing my budget each time. My current house is under a flight path and I got used to it very quickly. hardly notice it now. Like others have said, everyone is different.

Planes don't bother me. Trains don't either. But I can't stand road noise or car noise in general. If it was a choice between planes or everyone starting up their cars at 7am (eg an estate) I would go for planes.
Vive le difference, of course; I love a bit of road noise: commercial diesels, V8 engines, supercars, rasping hatchbacks, motorbikes big and small; even the whoosh of wheels on tarmac has a faintly musical quality, like a far off waterfall.  A reminder of being one amongst many, especially whilst alone, is a comfort.  Perhaps that comes from living near various busy roads!

Without too much worth this could be a poem. Or at least a haiku.
