I don't know about planes but that didn't work with me on a main road and cars. Drove me insane. And I couldn't open the windows.MikeJXE said:
If you want the house bad enough go for itgemma.zhang said:Going back today again…
hoping to conclude what we plan to do…
was told 2 offers on the table in the last week…🙈
If you don't want the noise don't listen for it
You can listen for the noise and you will hear it, if you don't listen you might not1 -
Have been really sad over the weekend….
I cant move on, still thinking about the house.
Using my brain - don’t buy it, can invest the extra money I paid for the massive garden into B2L for the kids private school fee.
Using my heart - I love it and I am sad. I can see myself living there. It’s really difficult decision.I am torn.0 -
Maybe I will get used to the flight noise, like the many ppl living in multiple-M pounds houses around that area 😭…0
-
Offer on it then. See if it's accepted. If it is, you have a lot longer to make the final decision, you can drive there lots more and check it out. If you don't like it, then pull out 👍 that way you have more time to consider it and it might be your offer isn't accepted at all and that solves your dilemma.2

Any air BnB properties near by you can rent and try out for a few days?1

Remember that planes generally take off and land into wind. In the UK, that's predominantly westerly but there are periods of other directions. Make sure you sample both! A squiz at FlightRadar24 will show you runway in use at your local airport.Signature on holiday for two weeks3

I have tried… and it’s westerly wind this week 😂, won’t hear anything.MultiFuelBurner said:Any air BnB properties near by you can rent and try out for a few days?0 -
Hubby did extensive research on this. Have downloaded all the flights for a week or two checking the flights size noise flying over.Mutton_Geoff said:Remember that planes generally take off and land into wind. It is a bother.
it Is now just I need to convince myself I will get over it…or needs to compromise.0 -
Not quite the same, but we said 'definitely no busy roads'. Viewed a house on a busy road without expecting to go for it. It felt absolutely right when we went round it, and we love living here now. Compromise isn't right for everyone but we don't regret it.gemma.zhang said:

Now you've rejected it can you let us know the road, or even the area you were considering? You'll find someone on this very forum who was a potential neighbour and it would be interesting to hear their opinion.
I did actually once live within 2 miles of an airport and could walk there. Oddly there was zero noise as the planes never flew over the town. They did fly over a very affluent town to the south however, to the amusing consternation of its residents.1
