Dinner cooked, kitchen tidied, HHI maybe more done to clear mount ironmore. Hope the eyes have settled down, Kaz.
Good things today:
Having a laugh with work colleagues
DH driving to the allotment to pick up all the bags of weeds that I have been generating
Making myself do just One More Thing this evening, so that the ironing pile is no more.
G’night all x6 -
After Tuesday's blitz of flying, yesterday was somewhat of a respite although still busy.
- one load through DW and WM
- Body Pump in the morning
- uni in the afternoon
- my brother visited in the evening on his way through for work, stayed overnight. We all enjoyed a veggie satay curry from last month's Mr T magazine, I always like their recipes. Chocolate cake for pudding as I'd made a huge on on Tues.
Today, although another night in the WAC for Mr N and I, we had a nice cooked breakfast with DB (which did not include chocolate cake).
Did some of a report.
Checked greenhouse, watered.
Filled bird feeders.
Went to drum lesson.
Went to Pilates.
Still working my way through the webinars for CPD.
Just received the invitation to extend my contract for another year at uni, which I have accepted. That means I'm safe for work until after I'm 66; I don't feel ready to retire yet, despite recent stresses at work and the ever-complex nature of students.
Tomorrow I have one or two things to do in preparation for BIL arriving lunch time, another new recipe and maybe another cake/biscuits to last us the weekend. Report I really want to finish, plus a pay claim. And any last minute flying.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.6 -

Oooh Narco I have just stolen your idea for tea tonight, have googled the veggie satay curry recipe and will put that in the SC in a bit. I am strangely off my food at the moment, working all sorts of stupid hours at the paid stuff doesnt help. Nice to hear you are still wanting to carry on with your work btw, I have got a way to go yet but will probably still need to work until I am well into my 60s.
Wide awake at 3.30am so got up at 5. Have done the ironing and made a start on giving the kitchen a proper clean. I got cross with DS1 yesterday via WhatsApp then realised that I hadnt read his message to me properly and I was actually in the wrong. I feel stupidly upset about it, things are just getting on top of me a bit at the moment.
So today I am practicing being kind to myself. I am way ahead with my hours at the paid stuff so will just do a couple of hours, make a to do list and sign out. I will also do a workout and try to get out for a bit of fresh air later if it dries up.

Morning all. Hope you're all ok today.
I have done some paid stuff, dailies, one wash load, hoovered through, one admin task, cleaned microwave and a ten minute stretching work out.
Still no dog walk though as it hasn't stopped raining here.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
S&S'd kitchenDW runSwept table and floorparcelled 4 parcels and 1 lettersorted insulin in the fridge and found charity to send old stuff too which Boog no longer used.. they take it to developing countries and help people live.Received Twinkles letter re coeliac disease so forwarded that to school.Chased Twinkles prescription and Boogs.Sorted Lionels birthday bits I keep forgetting to take because I'm an idiot.Sorted school for Dot for next week re SATs.. she is staying home in the morning and going in at lunch to do them 1-2-1 in the afternoon with her TA rather than the 'emotional support' lady which we feel would confuse her.. the fun person doesn't make her work.. but the TA does. I need to speak to her teacher tonight.. and my mother to see if she will take her to school with me next week.. I can't walk 2 school runs a day.Knitting is on hold as I have a bandaged up hand after tipping oil from an oven tray on it on Wednesday night.. I am talented!I found gluten free frosties.. Twinkle cried last night because I'd not found any and she loves them.. and I have annelini pasta to make her spaghetti hoops.. sometimes I hate myself!
My brain is fried.

Ouch, Piggers, re the hand. Give Twinkle a flylady hug from me.
Narc0, I’m hoping that I can find the will power (and that the company keeps going..) to keep going for another year or so, so that I can get DD through uni. That will take me to…ahem….past 65. Oh my word, in my head I am only 27. 35 at a push.
No flying today beyond dinner, WULTD, and doing a cursory tidy of the kitchen. Tempted to look at the Mr T veggie satay too, but I do have a tried one from the BB€ food website which is tasty. And I do have more recipes stashed than I have time to make.
Happy today that it is Friday and my next official working day is next Wednesday, that I have started working on my work backlog which has to reduce the stress, and that it is light enough in the evenings now so that I have just come in from surveying the greenhouse. Ok, the plants aren’t doing brilliantly, but at least I could see that in daylight, I suppose.6 -
Hope everyone enjoyed their veggie satay, ours was good. This evening's cooking session was some veggie 'sausage' rolls to take in our coronation lunchboxes tomorrow with this evening's meal being King Oyster Mushroom filo tart, one of the 5 recent coronation contenders. It was yummy and not too hard although the gf filo pastry isn't good for me as it has potato, so I used the wheat one and hoping no ill effects. Other achievements today:
- filled bird feeders
- checked greenhouse
- did some of a report
- did a flower vase for guest room and a small table centrepiece with the remainder of the red, white and blue flowers
- put clean bedding in guest room, quick turnaround after DB left yesterday and BIL arrived this afternoon.
- We've just packed our backpacks with food, water, tea/coffee bags (flasks of boiling water to be done in the morning), umbrella, sanitiser, flags etc for tomorrow. Mr N bought the train tickets this morning.
Time for an early night, will be having hay fever tablet and Rescue Remedy to stave off WAC as we want to get a train shortly after 6am.
Happy coronation day everyone. And thanks to all the knitters.....
