Phone and SIM

Did you ring them, or was that online? Have you had £10 deducted from your credit (rather than topping up) before? That means you can topup £10 every eight months and use the rest of your balance to pay for calls and texts at 1p per min. There is a window where that works, if you use about 30 mins per month on average. Any less than that and rwg's 5p per minute from a £5 topup would last you about 4 months plus, more than that and their one year sim costs £20 for a year. Rwg have no requirements to topup regularly, you just need to make an outgoing call or text every 90 days.

I got the information from logging into my account online.
I am sure I have had £10 deducted previously.
You say RWG have no requirements to top up regularly, but presumably you do have to after a year. Obviously I can make one call or text during 90 days. I can look back over previous top-ups, to see how much credit I had at that time, and work out from there what will be the best.
Thank you for reading this message.0 -
You will only need to topup when you run out of credit. £5 will not last forever but it could easily be more than a year. The user interface is a little bit basic but serviceable.

Bit of a thread resurrection here, for which I apologise ... but couldn't help raise the question of the (fairly frequent) aforegoing mentions of RWG Mobile, the provider in Wales who uses the EE network. No matter how cheap an organization may be I have to observe that if they fail to run their organiztion to the satisfaction of their customers (or potential customers) then it must, surely, be deemed a poor choice.I have no idea how many customers RWG have or how many new customers they recruit but I do know that when I tried to subscribe to them a few months ago I hit a brick wall when trying to call them on their published number. And if anyone cares to check the current Trustpilot pages they'll see that the vast majority of current and recent reviewers are not a happy bunch. On the rare occasion that RWG offers an online reply to a complainant they seem to blame someone else for any failures that occurred - Royal Mail is, of course, a favourite. If they can't be bothered to offer a reasonably timed reply to people to try to contact them with a view to joining them then in no way shape or form will thery be getting a business from me, no matter how good (or otherwise) the proposition.1

My experience with RWG was that they are fantastic value but it's all a bit clunky and it doesn't inspire confidence. I defected to 1pMobile who are like a Skoda compared to RWG's Trabant!0

I have my main phone on 1PMobile. I chose to pay their £36 one year unlimited texts and calls and a small amount of data. I only have to top up once per year for that, and it's only £6 more than the minimum annual top up.
That's £3 per month and i am happy to pay that for a reliable service with a market leading clear and easy to use full functioning user interface on their web site. And 1P are the only EE MVNO currently giving wifi calling and VOLTE which for reasons I have discussed elsewhere means they have FULL use of all the EE network.
I do have another phone, really a pocket sized tablet used for navigations apps, on an RWG sim just used for a little bit of mobile data. That could be cheaper for low usage but the downsides are no wifi calling, no VOLTE and therefore reduced coverage (that might be about to change, they keep saying it will) and a very poor website so all topups have to be done by texting codes etc.
There is a lot more to a "good" deal on a cheap mobile phone sim, and I think the fantastic website and ease of seeing how much you have used, how much you have left and easy top ups on 1P is worth a lot.0 -
